Urgent help with my beater

Please can anyone help me quick? I have a 2004 camry beater with 102k miles. It failed inspection because I needed new brake pads and the shop wanted $400.

So I got new pads from tirerack.com and got brembo rotors. They are guaranteed to fit the camry.

My question is would the brembo rotors be problem with the OEM camry pads I got? Or are rotors and pads seperate?

as long as it's a direct replacement and not a big brake kit or oversized rotor you should be fine. For under 400 bux I doubt it's either of those.

If you are doing the work yourself it might be worth googling some toyota forums and finding a DIY on it to make sure you do it right.

You will be fine. You will need one 12, 13 or 14 mm socket for the two caliper bolts, one 17 or 18 mm socket for the brackets and one c clamp to push the piston back into the caliper. With those couple tools you can replace most brake pads and rotors.

Make sure to use brake cleaner to remove the oil from the rotor from the packaging.

NJ used to check everything included with safety... brakes, suspension, tire depth, signals, etc... now that they are trying to save money they moved only to emissions... but many states still have a safety inspection..

Typically the issues are with using a high performance pad with OEM rotors. In your case, you'll be fine.

Make sure you bed the brakes after a few weeks of normal braking (no hard stops). Makes a huge difference in the longevity of them.

nope only some states have them, Illinois just has emission testing as far as I know, I was just curious I think NC has inspections like that.

Yes, NC does safety and emissions.

Oh, and tint if you have it. Costs $10 extra too.
