Union 76 Gas and MBTE Circle K
MBTE free gas.
Circle K/Union 76 sign out front means the station does not sell 76 MBTE free gas.
In fact, it isnt Union 76 gas at all.
"Here's the scoop. We sold the Circle K location and they now sell a different fuel thnt 76. 76 fuel is MTBE free. "
She continues:
If the station still accepts the 76 credit card, they too sell 76 gas that does not have MTBE." Edit. I think she means if "a" 76 station accepts the card, it means its MBTE free.
Not "the" same Circle Burn station.

I asked her for a list of legit 76s with MBTE free gas.
She is going to send me a hardcopy. Will post.
The net locator site is plum full of Circle Burn stations, but you can't tell because the site does not differentiate. It just gives the managers name.

Thus you end up having to replace them in 1/2 the time they would last with MBTE free gas.
Started as an alleged solution to air pollution, Al Gore hyped it also. It's now being banned in CA. Toxic as crap.
Of course they get to dispense all the MBTE thats left, and that's a bunch of truckloads, not supposed to run out till well into 2005.

MTBE (methyl-tert-butyl-ether) is NOT TOXIC. That is something that alot of people were worried about, but I have first hand knowledge of the opposite. When I was in UG, a grad student did hepatotoxicity tests on mice, rats, pigs, and rabbits. There were absolutely NO toxic effects on the animals. None. The tests that show cacinogen activity are on high level inhalation studies, not drinking water. These tests show carcinogen effect, but no more so than all other gasoline fumes do.
And all organics eat through plastic to one degree or another. Regular gas does, just like MTBE. Additionally, there is so little MTBE in gasoline sold that the difference in plastic "dissolving" would be negligible.
the biggest problem people are finding is that is screws with taste and odor of water it contaminates. there really are no poor health effects, but the water does taste like ass...\\

Hmmn because one of the t.v. stations got the camera out and had a couple of tins of gas out. They dropped several different rubberized parts, seals and stuff all parts having to do with gas contact. The MBTE gas started shrivelling them up and melting them within (can't recall how long but soon.)
Thanks for the input and perhaps will get some more.
