The ultimate relatively poor man's garage
The ultimate relatively poor man's garage
haven't posted here for a while - and miss talking about cars
so here is what I have now - took me a while to come up with this perfect car collection (I think/I hope)
all manual cars of course
the idea was to get cars that will likely not depreciate much - and possibly can leave for the kids as appreciating assets (OK the appreciating assets stuff was mainly to convince the wife to buy all these cars - although you never know!!!!)
1992 NSX - 120,000 miles black on black
1998 M3 coupe - 105,000 miles silver on black vaders
2005 M3 comp. pkg. - 78,000 miles Interlagos blue on black nappa leather
2007 S2000 - 65,000 miles Laguna Blue Pearl on black
the semi-daily/winter car is auto
2006 330i - 75,000 miles grey on black leather - just premium pkg (surprisingly one fast car)
Please discuss your thoughts on this collection and your own collection
I know I know - major car addiction issues

add to that, you need to have a good friend who happens to be an excellent mechanic, who can work on any car (for when the bmw's do need repair)

different cars in terms of driving dynamics for sure
I have to say there is something magical about the E36 M3 - the least expensive but just amazing overall balance and feel
NSX - sound, view, seating position, shifter, quick, elegant
S2000 - nimble, feels the closest to a sports bike, shifter, go kart
E36 m3 - steering feel, torque, the whole package just fits together perfectly
E46 M3 - engine, engine, engine, more torque, steering feel, comfort, elegance

I would say yes - mainly due to the weight and size of the E46
but the steering in the comp. pkg. does help the cat a lot
if only BMW can consult Honda on how the manual gearbox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you wait for the right price on each of those cars, it's not really far off (price wise) to what you have - that's assuming the full price of your jeep (as in not leased)

E36 M3 was $8K and the E46 M3 was $20K
so it is a "relatively" poor man's collection imo
I know I know - never been my strength - and never cared much about taking pictures - I leave it to the wife
I remember back in the day, I opened my wife's camera and exposed the film inside to the sunlight and it was burnt

patience is key - search everywhere, keep on searching, then you scoop the right car right away - and I mean right away
my main criteria was clean title, no accidents or repaint, and no rust for all these cars
I was reading your inquiries about getting an NSX in here and other forums - and said I need to get back in an NSX again and soon
I'm searching for one. I was about to pull the trigger on a '92 but the owner wanted $50k and I just can't do it it. $50k can get you so much more car than an NSX. I'd buy an NSX for $30k all day though.
