He spun out on just about every single run he made in March (maybe even every run, i can't remember exactly)-both under acceleration and braking. When he crashed this time, it was the first time he pulled his chute. There's a bunch of speculation about this as it looks to be a multitude of factors resulting in the accident: poor chute design (the chute may actually pull up on the rear of the car when deployed) and poor implementation (it looks like he hit the brakes before he pulled the chute).

The worst part about it was that he realy didn't have to pull the chute . . .

I heard they were looking at changing some things around because they thought he caught wind. But your implying that this guy is a possible newb? no pun.

He isn't the first. Someone else said he didn't brake til 1/4 mile past the mile marker & had deployed the chute by then.

Either way, I don't think this guy is a n00b. He still managed to keep a 1600+awhp car stable to 250Mph last year.

Noob or not, controlling a car not meant for those speeds with that amount of power can kill anywone. I doubt they did much, if any, wind tunnel testing.

Hardly anyone does any wind tunnel testing for this event.

From what I have heard, he's never pulled a chute before.

Looks like the wind caught his chute. Considering there are no wind barriers of any sort, he probably didn't calculate the force of the head/side wind, when he deployed.
