Tyler's Owdi B5 S4 Build & Update(s) Thread
I put a deposit down on a second daily / project car
2001.5 Nogaro Blue S4 w/ Cold Weather Package
Cliffs:
-114,000 miles
-Clean title
-2 owners
-6 speed
-Strong stock clutch (original)
-Mostly stock except for APR Stage I chip
-Stock K03 turbos (Original, no abnormal noises)
-Laundry list of of maintenance done such as coil packs, ICM, plugs, cam tensioner seals, upgraded diverter valves, wheel bearings, tie rods, control arms, new tires, etc
-BBK w/ ECS drilled & slotted rotors.
-VRM 18x8.5 wheels
-New tires
As B5 S4s go, their reputation serves as anything but reliable and it's certainly a car you buy with your heart and not your wallet. I've wanted one for as long as I can remember and this one was too clean to pass up. As of right now, I don't have big plans with it as of yet other than upkeep, but when those snails go out I'll be doing at least a Stage II build on it.
I test drove it for 45 minutes and it ran great with no codes, boosted to 17psi, no abnormal sounds coming from the turbos and the clutch didn't slip. I put a deposit down on it and should pick it up this week.
More pictures to come! It needs a good interior detail but the paint is pretty much mint with the exception of a few clear coat spots on the roof.

No big updates but, I have been enjoying the car quite a bit:
It was time ... I took my car down to an exhaust shop and have my mid-muffler removed so now, I am running 3" DPs, 3" mid-pipes, merged into a 3" catback with 1 x Miltek muffler at the back.
I know I know .. no sound clips, but I do plan on charging up my GoPro and getting a few recordings. It sounds perfect .. has some burbles up shifts, downshifts sound great, no drone.
I am one happy camper!
Additionally, I removed my stud conversion ... I swear - every wheel setup I've had with this has had some kind of vibrations / it was really hard to get it right.
I ordered some M14x1.5 37mm R13 ball seat lug bolts and removed the stud conversion all together ... no more vibrations and I know this makes @rockstar143 very happy! Nur Werksspezifikation!
What's next? Well ..I would like to get the following done before the end of the year:
- Remove black vinyl wrapping and get my roof repainted.
- Install Toureg big brake kit (I sound like a broken record).
- Install new ECS rear differential mount
- Get a new driveshaft - my center bearing is good, however the bushing around it is very tired and there's definitely slack in the driveline due to that. Differential mount should help immensely, but a new bushing around the center bearing will do wonders as well.
Thanks for reading.

Well played. Good idea to find one on which required (expensive) maintenance was already done.

Congrats man, enjoy it for as long as it'll run without throwing a code. And remember, step one of any procedure on this car is remove the front end.
BTW, I'm back in SD next week. I kinda want a ride. nomsayin?

I am in the hunt for them though, always been a fan of 17s but these wheels would look amazing with a drop (not like that'd ever happen anyways)
This is the only car in the world where that's actually impressive.

He did, but they had full blown snow tires mounted.

I should have clarified, I'm picking up the car in LA this weekend (it was originally from Ohio).
I'm heading to Wisconsin for a wedding this weekend
Having personally never driven the B6, I couldn't give you a direct comparison but I will tell you the torque of the B5 is pretty astounding (Builds peak torque @ 2500rpm).
APR's Stage I tune claims 307hp & 366 ft/lbs to the crank on 91.
I think the B5 chassis is the perfect size sedan and sits just under 3400 pounds; B6 sits at about 3600ish.
To each his own, but I think both cars are great.

You'll definitely have to check it out one of these days, this week is pretty packed though.
On a serious note, this thing has pretty impressive ground clearance so I don't think it'll be a problem.
You guessed it, lowering it is out of the question

I'd say this is more of a project car than daily, but I have my trusty S to fall on so no harm no foul
On a separate note, the car currently has Ohio plates ... and since I have to get new plates I might as well get custom ones no?
Any suggestions AZ?

One of the best blue colors ever on a production car in my opinion. Great find especially with all that work already done.

Also needs an engine/transmission swap from an s2000. You know, for reliability purposes.
