Details, details, details. Love it!

Curious though, can the M on the brakes stand the heat? Is it a decal?

It's a decal...whether it can stand the heat remains to be seen. If it doesn't hold up, I'll peel it off and try a different approach.

Some new exterior lighting goodies arrived via FedEx today - replacement DRL bulbs (white instead of pukey yellow), replacement front blinkers (to get rid of the "egg yolk" look in the lens), and replacement fender blinkers (to get rid of the amber bulb and move to LED):

The DRLs and front blinkers will need to wait until the weekend due to time constraints, but I was able to do the fender ones tonight.

Before:

After (they still blink amber):

I recently took the M5 on a road trip from Phoenix up to the Salt Lake City area. During the trip I did a couple of fun-drive detours and took some pictures of the scenery. I did the Alpine Loop from Provo Canyon, past Sundance and out American Fork Canyon one day, and flew across Highway 14 South of Bryce Canyon the next while on my way home. Pics below:

Glaciers:

Red Rocks South of Bryce:

Leaving Kanab:

Glen Canyon Dam:

Mind? No way! That turned out awesome! I just took our 10-yr. old point and shoot on the trip since it's not a our primary camera anymore and I didn't have to be careful with it. Your alterations are great.

Simply stunning pics! That background is so beautiful . . . especially with the M!

Who built those roads in the middle of nowhere is my question. But I'm glad it was built, so people like you can take a nice care out for some fun scenic drives!

Oh believe me, the photos are being SAVED by ST. I took the photos and there was nothing "quality" about my part of the process. I was using an old "point and shoot" and that's all I did - point and shoot.

Neither the front blinkers nor the DRLs fit. I'm working with the vendor now to resolve the issue. I'll update when I hear something.

I'm not going to lie - maintenance isn't cheap. Now, keep in mind, I bought the car with almost 40K miles on it. I immediately replaced the upper-bushings on the A-arms and a small seal on the rear diff, as well as the front pads and rotors (which were warping). That was more than $2.5K right there. I recently did an oil change ($250; every 15K miles, uses a special Castrol 15W-60 synthetic) and the various filters (air, cabin, etc) for another $200. But, you have to know what you're getting into with one of these; there's a TON of technology and moving parts. The key is two-fold: 1) find a good independent for repairs that you don't need the dealer for (e.g. brakes); and 2) get a good extended warranty for any potential catastrophic failures (destroying that V10 can cost $25K-$30K).

I have to say this - the fun of driving this car every day FAR outweighs the maintenance costs so far.

So, this last week, my M5 went in for the install of Eibach Pro-Kit springs and Macht Schnell 10mm spacers. I didn't have time to take any great pictures, but hopefully the before/after comparisons below will show the differences:

Wow she is a beaut! I'm glad I took a peek also (8 more pages to go). How do the springs ride? I just cant believe you are modding an E60 M5...lol!!! I sold my TL to get in a more family friendly vehicle, 07 M45S, but miss the modding.

The springs actually ride pretty well. I was concerned that they would be really rough, but the stock springs are stiffer than a typical 5 series, so the incremental change wasn't that bad. Plus, the M5 has an EDC system so you can soften the ride some. I am working through a couple of rubbing issued due to the spacers, but nothing major.

Wow! ST, that is amazing attention to detail, removing the reflection on the doors and window.

Subtle drop actually makes a big difference. Looks great!
