And then, today, a car ahead of me kicked up a piece of a tire that was on the highway...went straight into my front bumper and beat the crap out of it.
Why do the car gods hate me?

He wants cocks.
Sorry to hear that, man...
turn lemons into lemonade...anything cool or custom you could do to the new bumper cover? Maybe get them to pad enough to get a front lip or paint some shrouds?
Just thinking out loud...
Sorry about that Tim...happened to me in the RSX once...the sidewall off a truck tire they use to weigh down the barricades...kicked up into me too...took out the ac condenser and all.

Definitely a bummer. Damn truck tire pieces. Hopefully you can maybe turn it into an upgrade.

Dropped the car off at the body shop this morning. Looks like I'll be getting two new bumpers. Hopefully finished early next week.

Ouch, glad it's not more damage than that.
Clearly the world is telling you to take a power/speed upgrade to a Corolla

Well, misery loves company.
I'm not creating a new thread for this but my sunroof shattered yesterday on the freeway. I won't lie that I almost peed my pants a little with the loud bang that I heard immediately followed by the rain of glass over my head and all over the 3 staff members I was also driving (we were headed to a team function at another city).
Anyways, took in the events and headed back to my city (about 100 minutes away) and dropped the car off at the dealership. Going through insurance...so far, it's $1400 just for the sunroof but that does not include the services and the cleanup required (i.e. removing the glass bits under the fabric between the roof.
Just relieved no one got hurt or for that matter, no glass fell into anyone's eyes. Geebus.
Anyways, sorry again about your car, T. Join you for a drink to drown our miseries and our gripes of car ownerships.

Sounds like it will be in the shop longer than we thought...more damage behind that front bumper.

No BS.. chemical fix bonds the bumper, shaped to be like new and paint touchup that'll blend a lot better than new spray.
Plus fix is quick

Insurance claim in my case. Approved...just owe $500 for the deductable but it's $2800 + tax repair. Unreal.
In CAD though. So, it's really worth $34.50 USD.

Possibly? There were 4 of us in the FX and with the cooler temperature outside and maybe just the right angle/velocity on whatever hit the glass......?
I guess I should do a search to see if there is a theory for exploding sunroofs.

You would think tinting a sunroof would help in this scenario - when my Jetta was hit the tint kept the shattered rear window together.

Our HR manager had the sunroof in her Highlander explode when they were ~5 hours from home. Crazy situation & they never did get all the tape residue off the roof.
She traded it for an MDX.
