TSX strong debut
After the initial sales jump (all new models have this) it will slump. Too few cylinders for the money. Overpriced. Probably a great car for the low 20s.
And a 6 will ruin the balance? Probably so. Acura should design a NEW car with a small V-6 (honda 3.0 liter) and set back a bit for better balance. Not this makeshift "sports sedan"
I myself prefer 4 doors but the CL was the only 6 with 6 Acura sells.

You still haven't taken a look at the car. There is no way that car is over priced. In its segment it out performs and offers more than it's competition.

the TSX is a nice looking car, the interior is really classy and sharp. the navi is well beyond what the TL and CL offer. the features are all there....BUT
exactly what do you consider the "segment"
the TSX does not "out-perform" an A4, IS300, BMW 325/330. there is no way on earth you can say a TSX is competitive with thosecars as far as driving characteristics are concerned.
unless you consider the "segment" of the TSX to be the dodge neon, saturn ion, chevy caviler, pontiac sunfire and toyota corolla....

Yeah it does
a4 1.8T and 325 for sure. Driving. Well if you haven't driven the car you are talking out of your ass. No disrespect but you just haven't driven the car. Interior? Please. The cars you mentioned are PLAIN and COLD. Fit and finish is right there.
Gadgets and gizmos. a4, is300, 325 lag FAR FAR behind.

A Honda Accord 4DR EX can be had for less money with more power under the hood.
And from what I understand it's the same NAVI system.
I think most people value Horsepower more then the interior luxuries or even build quality.
Admittedly, I haven't driven a TSX, so I'm comparing by numbers only.

It isn't the same. There are some improvements. The chasis is completely different. The materials and fit and finish.

mmmmmmm Ethylene Glycol is yummy!
All things being equal, the TSX compares with the FWD A4 and Saab 9-3. I think it is the best value of the three. Everything else is just personal opinion. You can get into RWD (3 series and IS 300), but it all depends on what you look for in a car. I6, turbo, i4, v6, rwd, fwd, awd ...

Zapata. You assert this is a STEAL. When are you going to trade in your overpowered, over cylindered, over priced (by maybe $2K) CL type S, 6 spreed BEAST for a TSX?

LOL you bring to completely different premises into same assertion.
- It is a steal for what you pay for and what you get.
- I infact considered trading in my 6MT for the TSX. I was close but with an impending marriage and attempting to be wiser with my money i decided it wouldn't be financially wise at this point.
- However, if i were in the market right now? I would've already been driving it. In a year or two, perhapes I'll be luckly enough to have my better half in one

I like the TSX... but it s too expensive for what it is.... 25k should be the price of the car.. not 28k and it needs a stronger engine.
would u buy 03CLS 6speed with 04 TSX 6speed for the same price??

if i want a 4 door then i would buy the TLS
i mean, for 28K i'm kinda confused where i should place the TSX in Acura...
IF u say TSX is between TL and RSX.... but why it costs as much as a TLS?
well maybe cuz its got the 6speed but i pretty sure they will sale way MOREEEEEEEEE auto TSX than 6 speed, then y not TLS?

Okay, saw another one. Both were driven by dudes 60years old at least. I read a new article in my Sports Car International. They said the same things, nice FWD car, bland styling, great interior, no way in hell no one shopping for a Audi, BMW or Lex is gonna get this instead.
Hell it's a 4-door, it's an Acura, it will sell 15,000. Just don't expect anyone besides you to be impressed.

Does anyone remember this car being featured in Sept 02 issue of Import Tuner Mag? At first sight I thought it was an over-sized civic. Although, the article did mention they were testing 2 models. One 4 cylinder and the other a 6. Maybe a 3.0 6 is on it's way shortly.
Anyway, i think this car is ok by Honda/Acura standards. They're weak when it comes to styling, hold out on power on their engines, and give you just enough to make you happy for a while til you get bored w/ the car and realize you want something else.

I sat in the TSX last Fri at the dealership. I think the interior material is alright. If you don't really scrutinize it, it's pretty decent, but I really took a good look at it, some of the stuff is pretty cheap. The cruise control button, the heated seat switches are not very impressive. The cupholder in the TL/CL is much nicer with the two sided cover and a much more substantial feel than the one in the TSX. I think it looks best in Titanium, that "wood" is pretty bad. Just my 2 cents.

I saw the TSX this morning as I was dropping my car off for warranty work.
NICE
This one was the little brother of my CLS. Red w/ parchment interior. Since I like the color combo, it looked all the much better. It had the body kit too.
For someone in the market for a 4cly. 4 door the TSX is a good choice. I'm a coupe guy, so I'd probably buy a RSX, but I have to admit that the TSX is a sweet car.
My only complaint is that for a non-navi 6spd the MSRP is @26.5. Adding the body kit and a couple of extras bring the $$ up even higher. I just can't see spending that kind of money on a 4 banger car (my other car is a V8), but that's me.

Just read, Lexus had their 6th consecutive top selling April, like 22,000 units. They sold 7,700 RX 330s and an impressive 2,300 GX 470s.
THink about that, 2,300 $50,000+ vehicles vs the TSXs 1500 units at $26k. Huge difference in profit (for R&D).

2004 Acura TSX with navi costing $28,490
2003 Acura 3.2TL Type S costing $31,330
2003 Acura 3.2TL Type S with navi costing $33,480
How can you say they cost the same when there are $5k difference? Also, not everyone likes a big car, a smaller car like TSX still attracts some buyers who value handling over acceleration and cargo space.

I for one would rather have a smaller, more nimble car. If I were in the market for a sedan it would be a toss up for me between the TL and TSX (but leaning slightly towards the TSX.)
And you're right about the handling vs acceleration. Just look at the Miata...it handles wonderfully (for the price) but it's ASS slow! And it's the top selling convertable in the world.
