TSX strong debut
TSX strong debut
In its first full month of sales, the TSX sold 1,835 units
Already ahead of target! Let's hope it's a strong seller. Only mean good things for an upcoming CLS.

I don't know if they sold out of their initial allotment, or if they are trying to move some of the existing stock (03 CL and TL), before bringing in the TSX.

oh hehe i don't know anything you do but the better acura/honda does the more money they can dump into the CL redesign
go test drive the stick, you'll be quite suprised
why? is that magically going to propell me into 14's? i don't ask for much, only that a company's cars have a hierarchy when it come to performance. so the tsx being ~4k more than an rsx, i think i would like a tsx that can pass an rsx on the streets without a problem.

yes i know, saying that the tsx isn't a stellar car is a bad bad thing. its quite similiar to what they've done with the new si, capable handling, nice interior, looks fine, but a let down in accelertation.

You need to remember the majority of auto consumers aren't super concerned with paying more and getting more speed. Each car has a certain utility.
Look at BMW your average 3 series out accelerates your average 5 series. Does that mean the 5 series sucks.
RSX is a performance compact coupe. TSX is an luxury sports sedan. Don't try and compare the the two.

You know, I just had a eureka moment...Ok, so everyone like heyitsme that's dissing the TSX as POS is into cars strickly for the speed (even though the TSX is as fast as its fastest competition)...nothing else matters...if it doesn't have a 14 sec quarter then it's garbage...wow...I'm so glad he doesn't represent the vast majority of consumers, that would suck.
I know that I am loving mine with every additional mile that I put on it. This 6MT is probably good for 6.6-6.8 by my seat of the pants gut feel
But what really surprised me is the handling ... this thing handles on rails and pretty much will understeer if anything. Oh yeah ... one more thing ... MPG is already 26-28 for me on my first two tanks! But now that it is broken it that might change
By the way ... I love the look of the projector HID's, but I feel the lighted area is much less than my '01 CLS
I have a feeling this is due to all the press on HID's so they have these pointing down (too far) to comply ... ugh. Oh well ... not something Acura can fix really. Where the projector HID's do hit is bright as daylight though

the TSX us awesome
I drove one last week..the 6spd...
I can heel toe in it, perfectly, not many stock cars you can boast that about...
so smooth, great powerband all the way thru the rev range....
QUIET sunroof, unlike our cars...nicely done acura, i hope they sell a million of them...

I took a test drive of the TSX earlier this week (friends with one of the salesman, he doesn't mind if I do test drives once in awhile for fun)
... Have to admit, the car is very nice inside. Definitely nicer than the CL/TL in terms of quality. The NAVI is really sweet even though it had trouble understanding some of the voice commands we threw at it (I was told it needs to learn your voice, maybe they do some sortof calibration when you buy the car) ...
The car has a ton of options, even a flip down LCD in the center roof area with a DVD player attached. (Was installed in the TSX we test drove) ... The engine sounds sweeter than an RSX too, when you hit redline the car growls kindof like how the CL/TL sounds while the RSX kindof sounds more like a 4 cyl, screaming as you approach redline and when you hit redline the entire dashboard shakes ... The TSX doesn't do that, thankfully.
The seats are very comfortable, a definite step up from RSX seats.. and seem to hold you pretty well, although we didn't get a chance to really push the car hard, so I don't know how well they hold you under those kindof conditions.
If you're all about performance bang for your buck with a little luxury, I think Infiniti is definitely the way to go (G35 Coupe!!), but I definitely like the direction Honda is taking with the TSX. I would have loved to see the 240hp 6 cyl in the TSX (if it would have fit), but it gives me high hopes that the 2004 TL will have as nice, if not a nicer interior ...
Price is pretty high on the TSX, and I don't know if I could justify spending $32K on it while I could get the Accord Coupe V6, or CL/TL for less.
In the end, I'm pretty impressed by the TSX, what it lacks in engine power it makes up for in refinement, handling, and interior quality ... The TSX would be sweet with some mods and maybe a turbo charger
(I've seen a Turboed RSX that dyno'ed at 309 whp, 257 ft/lbs !!!)

the i-6's in the 5-series are fuel economy versions for commuters, just like the rsx and tl have two versions. obviously if the tsx had two engines there would be nothing to talk about, but since acura hasn't noted otherwise i have to assume this is the performance engine.
Good point, Zap. If heyitsme holds to his "more expensive must be faster" heirarchy, then he would be disappointed with pretty much every car company on the planet.

this is the first thing i noticed!!!!! The gas pedal goes all the way down to the floor like the germans
Me loves the setup. I hope they go this way on all new acuras.
They need to stop passing off fwd cars as sporty cars. Make a real rwd car for once. They made the s2000!
I test drove it, and it pales in comparison to the is300 and any of the bmw 3 series, except for the slick shifter.
I agree, they need to sell less to give honda a message that it can't pass off mediocre cars.

Well we'll have to disagree because for what you get in the car and the fit and finish the audi 1.8T, 32x series and is300 are in a distant 2nd.
1800 cars is pretty good. Don't hold your breath. NOt every car has to be the 3 series

I saw one coming up behind me on the LIE here in NYC last week and I thought "hey a new CL/TL !!!" but I was surprised when I got to see the sides and rear end ....I didnt like the styling....it is very average looking for an Acura....C'mon designers lets get busy !!!
I'd say it's a hit with 1800 plus sales in the first month, they're only gonna do 15K a year. I saw it at the dealer and it's impressive. It must be the 4 door thing, otherwise you can get a new CL-S for about the same $$, maybe less.

If you can't sell 15,000 units of a $25,000 car, you are an idiot. They'll sell it cause peple want a "luxury" badge but don't have the dough for a BMW, Lex or Benz.
Only few will be bought by people like us who know the car is an Accord overseas and will mod it accordingly. The new Accord ain't winning hearts over in Europe either.

I saw a TSX at Mmphis Acura and the hood was way out of alignment. It had a large gap by the winsdield and slowly got smaller until you reached the headlight where it was very narrow. The rest of the car looked good and was much better looking than than the IS Lexus. Very modern looking and from the outside (locked) the interior looked elegant. If that sucker had a 6 cylinder in it would be awesome although I'm speculating; the 4 may be perfect since it's relatively small.

That's the exact market Acura will have by the balls.
15k a year will hold the car's value and keep Acura from having to heavily discount cars to get them off the lot.
