TSX Hit by Schoolbus, Repair vs. Total Loss
Hey guys, so I got hit by a school bus last week and wondering if they'll repair my vehicle or mark it as a total loss.
Here are some pics of the vehicle, the damages etc. Not sure how I can estimate the cost because the appraiser hasn't gotten back to me yet, anyone have any ideas?

Pretty much would need my entire left side fixed, from the bumper to the rear where the gas tank is. Thanks guys!

It's going to depend on year and miles on vehicle but I'd say that's a good $6,000-$7,000 worth of damage by OEM repair costs. It looks just cosmetic as it didn't take a structural hit, but that's a lot to fix.
i'm looking at kbb value for the car, in the best condition it'd be around 7-8K. if the repair costs that much + salvage value > Actual cash value = total loss formula? not sure how to get salvage value though...
the kids are fine and i'm fine, i was at a stop because the light was yellow turning red, and the bus was in the left lane (left turn only) and i guess she sped to beat the light... sideswiped my entire left side!

You're looking at new front bumper, fender, both doors, repairs to the unibody, repair/replacement of front suspension, and paint for everything plus blend into older panels.
There's also potential for front subframe damage, wheel damage, and damage to any associated components that mount to the front subframe (almost everything) that may have been forcibly relocated to a less than optimal location within your engine bay.
Edit: And rear suspension too. Looks like both wheels got pushed in. Either that or you have a terrible drop with stock wheels.

yah totaled.
BTW: their payout is based on the MARKET Value for your car. Not at Trade in value.
If anything, you will be getting more $$ than you sell the car yourself.
do some research on how much is it going to cost for you to buy the car at your year/mileage from dealer or whatever and that is how much you should expect from the insurance.
