But the guy in the trans am was sweating, shifting like crazy in a car that rides like shit. The CL65 had the A/C going, cruise control set while listening to some Lawerence Welk and was just hitting the "Accel" button on the cruise control

That mustang in the second vid didnt do that bad either. Granted he had about a 4 to 5 car headstart though

Have you ever been in a newer Trans Am. With exhaust and lid only i dynoed 307rwp all while maintaining my AC, having leather seats, cruise control, abs 500 watt stock audio, oh and 327 lb ft of tq. With headers and cams i can easily hit 400 whp. And my car with adjustable shocks rode like my TL on H&R springs. A few CLers that have been in my car were amazed at how smooth it took bumps and how solid it felt. The bitch squeeks and rattles, but not as much as my TL. I'd rather have the benz anyday, but dont knock the Trans Am, the third gens and 4th gen LT1's sucked a little, and are known for being POS rattle boxes, but the LS1 Trans Am's and Camaros arent as rattle prone and are built like tanks.

If you pay attention, most car owners that have a camera in their car always have excuses. And did you ever see the chessfrog vid where the guy in the Viper complimented the civic. I do admit that F Body owners in general are cocky bastards that make up excuses when they loose. But, there are plenty of quiet guys who admit their defeat also. I hung out with quite a few f body guys and f body invasion last summer, and for the most part they were real cool, especially when a few assholes in civics showed up and started talking shit. Most of the f body guys were cool as shit and just ignored them, but the younger guys were fighting with the civic dudes. I love how import owners always knock american cars, but on the civic boards and other import boards they are always like, You think my turbo b16 can beat a modded WS6 off the line?

As a matter of fact I have and virtually ever other car on the road and I stand by my comments- which were made in jest, fwiw. I have never been in a CL65, but I have driven a SL65- have you?

I know pride of ownership is a big factor, and don't get me wrong trans am's with a LS1 can be fast, but its an insult to compare them to a premium GT like the CL65, in particular in terms of build quality and ride.

i am not comparing the cars at all, they are in a different category and the Benz is leagues ahead of the Pontiac. But we are talking about a race, where make and model doesnt mean shit, whats under the hood is what matters. And if the trans am had a twin turbo kit like the benz it would have been a different race. take the turbos off the benz motor and lets see how it fairs. But at the end the benz won and thats it. And not to be in a pissing contest but having very wealthy family members privelages me to a ferrari modena, S600TT, and some other very cool toys. You act like you are God because you have driven an SL65.

Its cool, you just seemed like you were under the impression I haven't ever driven/been in/seen a trans am before. Besides a SL65 is hardly the nicest/fastest car I have driven, but the closest thing I have driven to the car in the vid. You were questioning me and my experiences, as I did yours- so perhaps we should both stop acting like we are god.

As you said, coulda woulda shoulda.

most AMG cars are amazing cars right off the show room floor. a CL65 should have no problem with a lightly or mediumly modded TA. the thing about Benz their heavy as a tank but have a TOOOOOOON of torque. so you come out of the hole like a bullet.
if you look at the new M5(BMW 2006) (with the new 90 degree v-10 engine) a E55 AMG will run with it all day and night(if drivers are similar). I watched a M3 Modded with the Dinan stage 2 package and some other misc crap on it(like chip and little stuff) race a E55 AMG at a strip once out of the hole the Benz was KILLING it. (they had similar Reaction times) but the BMW was catching him in once he wound out.
