THIS!!!!!

Make some calls first. I'm sure there is another dealer who will let you drive a V before you buy it.

Yea as if the GTR is cheap to get service done.

Try another dealer to drive the CTS-V. Or try to find a used one just to test drive then buy new if you choose.

Theres also the E63 AMG if you dont mind auto. But i think thats north of $85k.

Yeah the E63 starts at $87k (just looked it up)

If he can wait a few months the new S6 and S7 from Audi should be here by the fall.

yea but also anyone with no intentions of buying a car can go to the dealer ship and say I wanna buy this and I wanna test drive it. And then waste their time. I know I did it a few times. It's a nice way to drive something new and waste some time. But seriously that for 80k you can't find a car that you like... s6 maybe?

The Cadillac dealer obviously didn't consider you to be a serious buyer. BMW owners can be very loyal and they probably thought you wanted to drive it with no intentions of purchase.

That's always a pet peeve of mine. When dealers see me, I look young, so they automatically write me off as a serious buyer. Especially if they don't see what I currently drive.

I write those dealers off my list right away. I would rather pay extra.

F10 550i...chip it with the dinan tune or be cheap like me and get a aftermarket piggy back tune.

Can't wait for our F10 535i....should be coming soon!

Doesn't chipping a new 5 void the warranty?

OP, I'd check out the S6. There's a new one on the horizon, so you could probably get a good discount on the current ones.

Or you could consider cars 1-2 years old and not get raped upside-down with the depreciation. Well not as much, anyways.

No Aman it does NOT void the warranty UNLESS they can prove the tune caused damage to whatever needs replacing....but to be safe I have someone in NYC near me that clears all the codes before I take the car in for service. My current 5 series I6 engine has the N52 powerbox tune installed and no problems.

It depends if its routine service I just clear the codes but if its a serious issue where they will have to check everything then I have the tune removed....its a pain but I think its worth it.

And lets say the tune did cause damage to the turbos....only the warranty for your turbos is void not anything else. Like if they void my warranty for turbos everything else would still be covered (lights/fuel pump/gasket/transmission).

I dont think its the straight line speed that the OP is worried about in the 550i. Hell that beast still does low 13s in the 1/4. Not exactly slow for a big sedan.

Although many reviews say it lost its great handling abilities compared to the previous version. It ride more like a 7series now.

The F10 still handles good. Not as good as my E60 but not bad by any means. The 335i E90 handles like a nice little rocket.

I thought he did buy it ... Or are we talking about two different guys. I thought Jonathan whateverhisnameis bought one and then disappeared for a while but then posted a couple of pictures of the CTS-V and then disappeared again.

Wasn't he the "I have $70k to spend" guy?

Yeah the other guy. John Cocktoasten or whatever his name was.

He apologized for not posting pictures and then did. I think he got a black CTS-V IIRC.

Well, okay fine. I still don't remember any of them who said they are buying a CTS-V posting pics of said car.

Fine. Take your word for it.

2012 audi s6 definitely has the luxury you are looking for, with ample power to back it up. whats wrong with the s6?

...a few options may bring it over 80k, but you could always hold your mother at gun point and make her sign for it, ya know?

I've decided that the CTS-V is like an ugly wife who is amazing/fantastic/insert-synonym-here in bed where as the new 550i is like the sexy wife who is only good in bed.

I'd rather have the sexy wife who I love taking out in public too. And I'll get her some cheap surgery too (aka Dinan Stage 1).

While the f10 greatly take the 5 series styling back where it desperately needed to return...and its a good looking sedan...the CTS-V is also quite sexy. Hell, a regular CTS is a looker...I actually prefer the shovel nose look of a regular CTS compared to the V. If I were to get a V, I'd do a conversion.

I think it's the tail lights and overall back end of the Caddy that gets me. The front is fine.
