Traded in the TSX for a Pilot

The day finally came on Thursday and I traded in the TSX. Though i loved that car, it was too small for my family and with another baby on the way, it had to go. The Pilot is really nice and I love the V-6 power, but the gas mileage isn't all that great. Does anyone else here have a Pilot?

I've also got a Pilot, its ok but I'd rather drive my TSX or even my Accord(all 3 are 04's) for that matter. I don't know how to say it, but the Pilot feels too... American for me I guess its good for what it is, but I am not a big SUV fan.

I agree with you, the TSX is a much better riding vehicle, but we needed the room so it had to go. My wife is too afraid to drive the Pilot because it's so big, so she's stuck with her Focus.

I don't think the pilot is that big, but I used to drive domestic tanks from the 80's...

At least you're still in the Honda/Acura family

Pilot is a rattle box on wheels. I dunno, at least the one my buddy had was. Didnt feel "tight" anywhere.

He sold it for a 4.6is

And whats the need for a big SUV with kids? Not like they take up much room.

You're right, the kids don't take up too much room, it's all the shit that you have to carry around with the kids (double sized stroller, diaper bags, toys, etc.) that take up so much room. Half the time time we couldn't use the trunk in the TSX because it was filled with baby stuff. That's not a problem with the Pilot.

I looked at the MDX prior to getting the Pilot and it didn't offer much more, but it cost a lot more.

Its funny because I also have a 04 accord ex 5spd and a 04 TSX, and feel the TSX was worth the added cost.... Go figure.

I feel the MDX has a firmersportier ride then the Pilot

I did not like Pilot after having to drive one L.A. day on job. I got really annoyed with after awhile. When I test drove an MDX it was a much better feeling/looking vehicle.

After looking at my bank account and yearly raise, I considered the MDX for about a nanosecond and then went with the Pilot

Personally, I am a fan of the Pilot, makes great sense for anyone that needs a little more than most mid-sized SUVs in interior space but do not need towing or off road capability. I agree it isn't a MDX but I too feel it isn't worth the money compared to the Pilot. A perfect choice for those that a Minivan is the real best choice but can't imagine themselves driving one, especially with 2wd if you live outside the snow belt. My biggest complaint about the Pilot is the steering column shifter, guess that isn't much of a bitch at all.

Sucks that you had to give up your TSX but the Pilot is a nice SUV. Congrats!

Why didn't you trade in the Focus and keep the TSX?? Seems like a more reasonable decision...

Because everyone is always right

People on here tend to forget that what they like and need isn't always a perfect fit for another person, but even when that fact is pointed out...they still don't get the clue.

Element is amazing for utility but has no power...plus I would hate to be dealing with baby seats with this half doors...it would suck.

if you were looking for more room for your family why not the odyessey? I don't even know the price difference between the two. but the odyessey is a great fan. my parents have the touring version and i love driving that thing (even though it's got a lazy stick in it)

you're 17, barely a man yet, how do you know?

my parents have the '05 touring model. that thing is awesome. When I have a family, that is the kinda van I'd want. Great comfort, all the features you could imagine. so much damn room it's sick. plenty of toys for the kids (dvd player, power plugs for their toys if they need them), and it's engine is pretty damn sweet, i've caught plenty of people off guard at how much power that thing really has, and it's smooth driving as hell.

but if not that van, i'd want an audi s4 or rs4 wagon

regardless of what you're driving now. The point of this is, when you have a family, you're gonna do what's right for your family, ahead of your own personal pride. And if that means owning a mini-van because you need the extra room, gadgets for the kids, etc, then so be it.

Just cuz you own a mini-van doesn't make you a less respectable man.

Doing the right thing for your family and their needs ahead of your own including your own pride, makes you more of a man IMHO

but if you want to be selfish and buy an SUV that gets crappy gas mileage (unless it's a hybrid, which IMO haven't yet proven to offer significant mileage gains over their lifespans because they haven't been around long enough yet) just because you're worried that your respect of being a man will diminish, then go ahead. another

and yes you do still have a lot of growing up to do, college will drastically shape your life. enjoy it and make the most of it!

Although the new MPV does have some great features to it. I still think the Odyssey is a much more reliable peice of machinery. Honda has been refining the Odyessey a hell of a lot more than Mazda has done for their MPV. It took them all these years to come close to having a van that can compete with the Odyssey. Even still, I wouldn't doubt that Honda would look at it and make their next version of the Odyessey even better than the MPV.

I know three people that have had their so-called reliable Odyssey have their trannies fail on them. If I wanted reliable I’d get a Sienna over an Odyssey anyday.

Are you talking about the OLDER Odyessey that Honda replaced the trannies on? There are plenty of broken down peice o shit MPV's that I've seen as well so if you want to complain about an older model go ahead.

I'm sick of hearing about the Honda/Acura Tranny issues and people belittling honda for that sole reason. Aside from this one I can't think of ANY other major problems that Honda/Acura have had to deal with. Honda may have had a huge problem at hand with the trannies but they took care of it. They may have had a very slow start at remedying the problem, but they figured it out and fixed it. My friend just had his tranny replaced in his '03 CL and his car is running perfectly fine now.

If you're gonna talk about the new MPV, it'd be nice if you compared it to at least the current Odyessey that's on the market which is hands down one of the best vans on the market at the moment.
