He upgraded from a 48 month lease on an '06 Boxster...I left my Mini by his house to use if he needed it, took his Boxster back to my Porsche dealer, turned it in for him, picked up the C2S, brought it back to my office, did the NYS inspection for him, waited for his father to get home from work (lease was under the father), then brought it out to them. Funny thing about the Mini is, that when I pulled into his driveway the first thing out of his mouth was "Wanna trade for the Mini?" and I said Suuuuuuuure!

It took like a month for him to decide what he wanted before we ordered the car, which we did in the beginning of January, and it was about a 3 month wait for him to get it the way we ordered it.

Father?????

Who do I blow to get into that family?

The 911 is a possibility for me. Once the kids are all out of college.

That would have been a nice trade!

A couple of weeks ago when I was getting tires put on my car an elderly gentleman (definitely in his later 60s) came into the shop and was conversing with the manager. The car he drove was obscured by a green van so all I could see from my seat in the waiting area was a red rear brake caliper and cross-drilled rotors. I heard him say that it was the most expensive car he has ever purchased, more than his M3. When the green van pulled away it was a silver Carrera 4S. So sexy

The kid is probably in his mid to late 20's...He has his own very successful consulting company. His office was quite nice..

Other car's I've gotten his family, an MDX for his mom, a 328i Convertible for his brother and an MB E350 for his uncle (which the lease is up now and i'll be getting him a new E350 soon)..

That makes sense. A successful family overall. You know, out in LA, there are those real rich pricks that have 16 year old girls that reject IS350's because of their color.....

in about 6 or 7 more years we want to add a 4 or 5 year old 911 to the stable. I am not sure if i'll sell the boxster to get the new one or keep it and give it to the wife and get me a new ride........

by that time we'll know if pdk is a viable and reliable option.

Wow, very nice! Dude got pretty happy with the options page too it looks like.

I see Sport Chrono, Carbon fiber steering wheel, Aluminum trim package, Alcantara shift knob and brake handle (and seat inserts?), Turbo wheels.....there's got to be a few others in there.

Looking at the option list and prices is a big FAIL for me.
Couple of examples - Door Opener $550, Bluetooth phone interface $695 = crazy

Nice car, I can't afford it, don't want - PASS

That is Porsche and their wonderful prices. Do you want to know how much PCCB (Porsche Carbon Ceramic Brakes) go for on a new 911?

$8150.

Beautiful car. But for that amount of $, i'd go used Turbo. Also I think going from a current M3 to a CS would be more of a sidestep than a step up, performance-wise.

Except brakes are actually useful unlike half of the options on that 911. For example, "Gear Lever/Handbrake Alcantara $1880"...seriously? 2k for different material on the handbrake?!? Even the sounds system was less than that.

Strongly rivaled by the half-thousand dollar iPod jack.

Nicely personalized option sheet, some good stuff on there. Shame on me for not spotting the tailpipes and Sport Seats, weak.

That being said, does anyone short of an Ice Road trucker need a heated steering wheel? Kim Kardashian thinks that's extravagant.

Ahh you don't know what it's like to order a Porsche...EVERYTHING is an option...Know the center cap on the wheels? They come standard in black. If you want them to be colored you have to pay IIRC $300...It's such a pain in the ass, but that's what makes a Porsche so special, right?

Yes, Isn't that special!
I do understand.

Can't afford, DON'T WANT

Thank you for playing. (I still drive an Acura, one major option, I bought )
Different marketing philosophy that I don't care for with Porshe & BMW in particular.

While I don't like the fact that cars that are in the $35k price range don't come with real leather standard (BMW, Mercedes-Benz) I love the fact that you can option the car out any way you want. One of the things I like the most about this is if I live in Florida I have no need for a cold weather package, but living in Colorado I do so I can get it if I choose to. To each his own, this Porsche is beautiful and well worth the money.

Edit: To expand a bit further on that, I can pick and choose what I want, and not have extra things on the car that I don't want and would rather not be paying for.
