Traded in CL-S... pics of replacement!!! 56k beware

Hey all... some of you might remember the many times i wanted to get rid of cl due to tranny issues, etc. well i finally traded her in and picked up my replacement last night... i really wanted to get '05 S4 but i realized that at my age it was kinda stupid to drop 40k+ for a car when i have the rest of my life to drive such cars....

as such i found an '03 A4 1.8t quattro 5spd manual with sport package, premium package, etc (all the options) and i picked it up last night

i really like the color combo, black on black with titanium trim. the car is a blast to drive, a bit underpowered when the turbo is not fully spooled but i plan on upgrading to k04 turbo in the near future with FMIC and software. the dealership has in i.o.u. for 20% tint all around, will put them on when i get back to the long island area when i get a chance.

im also thinking about getting body kit, lip spoiler and xenon fogs...

im gonna miss the cl though my modded cl-s was for sure much faster, but the a4 is a lot more fun to drive.

i'll stick around on a-zine and if you guys'll have me at meets i'll def drop by too

i was once a a4 owner as well.

hope you got extended warentee and don't mind bringing it to the shop often....
i had soo much stuff wrong with that car.

control arms, turbo, coilpacks, coolent system.

lots of stuff happened to that car. it was a fun car to drive i had a giac chip and it was fun little car.

once the warentee is out sell it asap you won't regret it.

BTW i still love them and i plan to get a b5 s4 and play with that when im out of school

good luck

You wish your CL was RWD, but you got an Audi??

A4 1.8T is a nice car to drive in terms of interior quality and such, but they're not powerful unless you mod it. You don't feel torque or anything. The turbo makes it acceptable, but I'd rather go with Infiniti [RWD and torque].

nice car, but i think youre gonna need a body kit fast! i always wanted an A4 also, but i couldnt stand that plastic trim all over the bottom. (same goes for the G35 Sedan when it first came out.) other than that, everything else about both those cars are sweeeet

Good luck with that engine...its a known sludgemonster and is quite hard on oil.

Run Amsoil 5W40 or Castrol Syntec 0W30 with the oversized, $6 Purolator PureOne PL30257 (?) oil filter and change it every 10,000 miles.

i think the dealer will put in whatever the audi recommended synthetic oil that the engine uses. its CPO, so i will get all servicing done by dealer.

i wish the tranny was 6spd, but oh well. maybe i'll go for a swap

SHould have gotten an 04... those came in 6speeds

Congrats on the car! My car has been pretty reliable as long as you learn about it. Advice, buy a coilpack and keep it as a spare. They tend to fail but they are cheap, around $5. Very easy to swap out also in case it does fail.

And fawk the K04.....

Get the GTRS/Revo for like $2300 and run 12.7@107

What year? I rarely hear turbos failing on the B6 unless the owner had oil sludge problems which was the fault of the owner and not the car.

Change your oil people!

hey jesal, thanks for the welcome onto the *other* azine

coil packs $5? how do i tell which coil pack went out though? i suppose i should buy a vag com? i guess it would be a good investment esp since im planning on modding/tuning

and i did see a kit on http://www.atpturbo.com/root/releases/release041205.htm that looks pretty nice. i was wondering if the stock 1.8l internals can take that much boost?

also im not sure which route i should go first... performance... or cosmetics? what do you guys think?

Change your oil people!

mine was a b5 1999

it was chipped so that had something to do with it. i think the wastegate went and they just replaced every thing.

run synthetic it helps alot

also vag com with a cheap laptop is pretty handy or even a pda

Oh are they $20? I know they are cheap... i had one fail and my buddy gave me his extra one. So when i went into the dealer he exchanged the bad one for a new one so i have spare now.

You can manually check the coilpacks by pulling out each one and putting in the new one. In most cases its cyclinder 3 that blows.

As far as the ATP kit goes, many people seem to be installing it on audizine without issues. Im waiting a bit to see how the results are to make sure no one has issues, but so far so good. The revo program is tuned pretty well to that setup to make sure everything is running right so i wouldnt worry too much.

Do performance and looks. Get the basics first before getting the turbo kit. Get a diverter valve, FMIC, exhaust, etc.. Get a short shifter also... it rocks. I have the stratmosphere one. Also H-sport sways will make you fall in love with the car all over again!

Also VAG com is worth it but im lucky enough to have local chicago members with it that are willing to help out when needing a scan. Im sure you can find the same around your area.

Depends on how your dealer is. Try to find a local audi forum and ask which dealers they take their cars to. I have to drive 30min to a dealer because i know they are mod friendly. Well worth it.

get an extra ecu and chip that one. run the chipped ecu. when it goes in for something that could warrent a chip use switch out the ecu. they also make one that you can select which program it will run. 100 octane, 93 octane, valet and stock.

pretty cool stuff. check it out ecs tuning i think is one place. avalon motorsports is in jersey.

We dont do that with the B6. We use direct port programing throught the OBII. So there is no need to touch the stock ecu box. Plus there are sercurity bolts on the ecu box and you have to break them to get it out. The dealer would notice that more than anything.

Even with direct port they have it so you can switch back from stock to chipped. All through the OBII port.
