trade in the 00Tl for 99 m3 convertible?

Well this is the situation guys. I have wanted a convertible since as long as I can remember,So today my best friend calls me and tells me he is looking at a 99 m3 convertible black on black loaded for around 20k. This is what I want I love the body style and the car period. Now would it be silly of me too get rid of my reliable car thats almost paid for too sink 20k into a used car with 70k miles and its a 99 at that? What do you guys think?

Red,

Can you afford the trade-up? You're right ... it's a 7 yr old car so it'll start to have wear & tear issues. Can't remember which MY M3 had more issues than others in that gen (article of it in C&D last yr) If it's a dream to get the 'vert ... and you can do it now ... what's stopping you again?

I think it's like this ... I think the things that bug you are the things you will regret in the future. I'm not a big fan of the convertible (since I live in the Midwest / southern Canada) and it's not practical. But I do want to get a 2-door sports car before the mid-life crisis, so I'm saving up now to get one (if the GF/financee doesn't kill me).

Have you seen it / driven it? If you have and you're asking for opinions, you don't love that particular car and should move on. My

I love my convertible (S2k) but would not have traded to get one that is 7yrs old.

How about a less expensive, newer model of something else?

Well I have not driven one yet on the fear that ill buy it. The other thing is im in the middle of buying a condo or a house (not sure what one yet). So my real only concern is me getting the car and spending 20k When I could hold off and maybe get another new toy worth more to me like a truck and maybe a brand new yamaha 700r raptor Which I could get both for under 20k and keep the Tl.

Wait, buy the house or condo first. And just open all the windows and the sunroof for the time being.

after you buying the house why not like a newer 328i or a 330i convertable.

Well my brother has a 02 330ci coupe and its nice, He has all the dinan upgrades done to it and its fast but its not as sexy as the 99 m3 to me. And a buddy of mine has the 04 330ci convertible with the hardtop also has all the dinan upgrades and its sexy but that 99 bodystyle is the one for me.

I would just pay off your car then get a newer car.

Meh- that bodystyle dates back to 92, and i think you'll miss the interior of your TL. Why not an s2k for the same price? (and Honda reliabillity)
