Toyota Solara V6 Manual...where to start?

Since I could not find an Accord/CL V6 with a manual, I bought a Toyota Solara V6 with a manual. I did not even know they made these cars in manual transmission form. It drives, actually, quite differently from how the CL/Accord drives since it is smoother, electric light steering and basically feels like it floats a lot.

What should I do? Intake, suspension...get rid of those hideous mudflaps? If you owned such a car...where would you start?

Sorry to leave this so open-ended.

depends on what your end goal is.
are you wanting performance?
or do you want to make it look good?

fyi: cold air intakes dont make your car any faster. you would spending over a couple grand to make the car only marginally faster.

It's your car... nobody is going to ask you to modify it to their own taste. Do what you want.

If you want the car to handle better, get better tires and upgrade the suspension. If you want it to sound better, buy an amp and some new speakers.

Isn't it basically a 2 door Camry? Take it to Tony the Tiger.

I always thought the Solara was a chick car. I am astonished to learn that they made one with a man pedal.

Ya learn something new every day.

To echo others....what's your goal with the car. You are right, your question is pretty open-ended.

This should be step one. Some basic maintenance. Then mod.

It's hard to say what to do w/o knowing your goal or your budget. It it were mine, probably wheels/tires first so it doesn't look like every other Solara... then a slight drop so it doesn't float like a Camry. After that, it would depend what the end game was. Honestly, I wouldn't spend too much on it...

Personally I'd get a stiffer suspension and an alignment. See if you can add some caster to the steering, give it a little bit more feel. Not sure if the Solara's suspension would even allow that or not.

If it's a strut-type front suspension, he may be able to get coilovers with camber/caster adjustment.

Oh nevermind.

The Solara is a blank canvas for me, since there has been no mods (who would mod a Camry coupe!) so I was wondering what people would do with it if it were their car.

I would have waited for an Accord/CL but they all had issues from door locks/speakers that did not work and one had a knocking engine.

For this Solara, since much of the hard work like the T-belt and struts have been done, I was thinking of making it handle better and some of the ideas such as the alignment/stiffer suspension sound like a good start. If there was anything I liked more about the Accord than the Solara, it would be the handling. I guess I will not be doing the CAI! And add a touch screen navi to it.

Didn't mean to cause any controversy.

Thanks
