Toyota HIDS
Toyota HIDS
Why doesn't Toyota put HIDs in any of there cars? I absolutely love the 2008 Highlander, but it comes stock with Halogens on even the best model. Why don't they offer HID's on any of there cars an option? I really don't understand. I would think since they are the same company as Lexus, that they would have them. I realize you can put in an aftermarket kit, but it never looks as good as stock HIDS.
yeah so it looks like the Sienna and Prius are the only ones available with HID. It is odd, I agree. I think they really need to offer it in other models as well. Incidentally I had a retrofit HID kit on my Supra and it did make a weird triangle-type of shape in the beam.. so I know what you mean.
Well this is like wanting HIDS on some of Honda models...
In my opinion, Toyota offers Lexus and Honda offers Acura for a reason... HIDs could very well be one of the reasons why they're labeled "luxury lines". Do I agree? No but you gotta make Lexus and Acura owners more special for paying more about for what may be very similar cars... I guess it's just business.

It must be wrong. My friend's Avalon has HIDs and he hasn't modded it except for tint.Like someone else said, Honda doesn't offer any HIDs. I wish they did on the Accord.

Honda S2000 has had HIDs standard since late 99 when it first came out
.
i don't care if it's Honda or Toyota. bottom line reason why they don't put HIDs on but a few and those are the top of the line models like the Avalon, or S2K. if they offered in the Accord V-6 EX or Camry V-6 it would hurt sales of the Lexus ES and Acura TL. due to cost being so much the TLs i feel would fall and Accord sales would eat off it. same with Camry vs ES.
it's like with the American car makers.
for example i don't know why Ford doesn't close Mercury. it's basically a Ford whatever model with a different badge on it and it has to eat some of the sales of Ford. yes i know the money goes back to Ford but it cost a lot of money to run 2 variations of the same car down "the line." plus with suppliers for like interior putting mercury on stuff vs Ford.

It amazes me that you can even tie your shoes everyday.
Isn't there a monster truck pull on tv right now?Have you ever heard of something called "brand loyalty"? Of course it would be easier to just shut down Mercury but consider who the target audience is: Older consumers who for the most part are set in their ways. How many of them do you think would accept the change and switch to Ford? Probably a lot more than you would think

To any one who is considering putting an HID kit in their halogen equipped car please DO NOT do so, factory HID headlights are designed around HID bulbs (D2S and D2R) in a way that does not allow any glare towards the on coming traffic. Putting an HID bulbs in a halogen headlight creates tons of dangerous glare.

Makes sense for mazda, as it helps them offer one more thing similiarly priced cars cant offer.
Optional or not, I know for a fact that HID are available for the Avalon, my in-laws have them on their Avalon.
The technology will slowly trickle down to lower models, just a matter of time.
What I would have loved to see are older cars with the newer technology, like with my favorite car, the GS-R, having some HID's, LED taillights, auto-down on side-mirrors, LED instrument clusters, can't think of anything else off the top of my head. Yea it can be done aftermarket, but I like seeing that stuff OEM.

Yes, HID retrofit kits are junk. The D2S projector is what makes it work, not the xenon light capsule.

Very correct... only do it if the car has OEM projector lens, as they have a better aim, and less glare if aimed properly.
