Top Speed run of a VW R32
dont know where this was at, but holy crap that takes a lot of balls to do that on a highway risking driving by cops at those speeds.

I don't think they go that fast stock, my GTi topped out at 155 via fuel cut off. It probably had a chip at least to remove the limiter. I thought they would hit 170 and slow down, but instead they mind of well have set the cruise control!

There is no way a stock R32 can hit 170+ mph... That's the top speed of a C6. The top speed of a Z for example with more torque/HP than a R32 as well as more aerodynamic can hit about 155mph tops without a governor

looks legit, but topped out in 6th needs a lot more hp than the stock 240hp
i don't see any car with 240hp can push up to 170mph, even with limiter off, it would take forever to go up there
his car must be modded with 400hp or more
even my frd who owns a 1.8T GTi says he's probably turbocharged it, or else no way can top out that

What you guys need to remember is that once you get to around 150 mph, aerodymanics starts counting for more than HP. It's exponentially more difficult to get to each mark.
Getting from 140 to 150 mph is something like 5 times easier than getting to 160 from 150. And 170 from 160 is another 5 times more difficult. It just keeps going. That's why the magical 200 mph mark is so hard to reach.
The VW is a brick. The aerodymanics are horrible. There's no way that car can push to 170 mph without GOBS of HP. It would need well over 450 or maybe 500. Are there mods to get one of those to 450?
Also, I'd worry about the lift on that car. It would just pick right up off the ground at too much speed. There's nothing to put down force on it at all without major body work!

VW's and most German cars for that matter have very optimistic speedometers once you get into triple digit speeds. That R32 was probably realistically going 150 to 155MPH at most.

What we know:
Engine Speed: 6500rpm
Final ratio in 6th gear: 3.0528:1
Wheel Diameter: 2000.8mm
Velocity = Diameter x Engine Speed / Gear Ratio
= 2000.8mm x 6500rpm / 3.0528
= 4,260,106mm/min
= 4.26km/min
4.26km/min x 60min/h = 255.6km/h
255.6km/h = ~159.75mph
The speedo is probably off by a bit or I can't quite read the tach.

my math is a little fuzzy but by doing a rough stop watch on his trip meter it took him about 22 seconds to do a mile and that equates to roughly 170mph doesnt it?
