Yeah that one we're used to now, but when they came out in 1999 I remember wondering what was up with that. I guess they were trying for some kind of play on words with "escalate", like as in "escalate your lifestyle"....er sumthin ....at least Navigator makes sense for that kind of vehicle. Lincoln fails with Aviator, though - I'm sorry, I test drove one, it was not able to take flight


"Fairlane" was the name of Henry Ford's estate I believe.

Combo of "diamond" and Cadillac's "Elegante" maybe?? Someone thought it sounded good I guess. I had one in the 90's and it was a really nice car, and even though I didn't keep mine long enough to find out, seems they were well built, too, because a guy at work had one he bought brand new in '92 and drove it daily up until last year when he bought a new Tundra Limited. That's a loooong time to stay committed to one vehicle...

lmao! my dad had one of these from before I was born until i was about 2 or 3. I have a vague memory of no tape deck, and it was brown on brown .... this was the last american car my father ever owned, and he blames it completely on that piece of crap's unreliability...

There was never a Caddy version of the X car (Citation/Skylark/Omega/Phoenix).
The Cimarron was based on a Cavalier sedan, but with all the changes (V6, suspension upgrades, etc.) it ended up effectively a leather-lined "4 door Z/24".

Thanks. I'm not up on the GM bodies from the 80's. Most of those were F for F'ed bodies due to rust. But I think the J body was the Buick GN/Pontiac Grand Prix/Olds Cutlass/Chevy Monte Carlo. Whatever those were, they were good cars.

For bad names, well, Subaru has a car named Pleo. What the f!@# is Pleo? Drive in traffic here and all of the Engrish on the backs of the cars would kill you.
