The TLS was wrecked!!

This is on Friday...sorry for the delay . So I'm just driving up the street....actually going the speed limit (20 mph) and out of nowhere this girl pulls out into the street at a 90 degree angle to the flow of traffic, crosses over from my left and hits me, pushing me into the curb. So to picture this, her right front hit my left front. She was driving a white VW Jetta and said she was making a U-Turn ...pulled into a little widened area on her side of the street, waited for a bus to pass, then wheeled around as fast as she could...and boom.

The damage? (All relations to direction are from looking at the back of the car) Front bumper is toast...ripped a hole the size of a basketball in it...crushed the left front panel...crushed the CAI underneath it (the bypass valve crumpled like a piece of cardboard)...crushed the front left headlight housing...ripped the underbody covering under the bumper out. No chassy damage, or bent pieces that I can tell.

Her car...ripped her bumper completely off, hood damage, her grille was laying on the ground....right front light crushed...side damage, some right front suspension damage.

And this is all from not looking before pulling an illegal U-Turn . If you're gonna break the law do it safely.

So why am I not crying over this? Well, after getting my car back from the body shop two days before for getting the hood painted for free because the service dept scratched it...I was asking about getting my front bumper repaired (it was backed into). the original estimate of $300 ballooned to $650...to which I politely said "yeah fucking right". So I decided not to do that work, and drove home...trying to figure out how in the world I was going to fix that bumper...well, problem solved. New front bumper.

Second, a pothole had seriously destroyed my right front rim...to get it fixed was $200...now it's free.

Third, I was stupid enough not to wrap my CAI in Saran-wrap before installing it, so it was midly scratched. New CAI.

So I guess all in all it worked out. I'll have pictures tomorrow for you guys, now let's hear your thoughts .

how did the CAI get damaged if it were left side. did it bend from the impact. And that's pretty cool that Ins covers that aftermarket stuff I guess it makes sense though.

EDIT: never mind I was thinking left side if you were facing the front of the vechile. I'm assumming you mean left side whiel fcing the back,

Thanks, uh...yeah. I just hope it drives the same.

BLK CLS:
Oh yeah...that's right...those headers...my NOS...my dubs...gosh...forgot about all that!

pgatour1:
Yeah driver's side...and I am pretty sure the insurance will. Either the car or the homeowner's insurance will take care of it all.

welcome to the wrecked Acura club. I've been driving a scab for 3 weeks now... I finally get my ride back on Friday.. I can't wait. During this time, I realized how much I really do love my car.. (sniff).

Make sure they check that nothing was “ingested” into the engine from the way you described the CAI/Bypass destruction.
I assume the car was running when this happened so it would have been drawing in air at the time.

Well I promised you boys and girls some pictures...ignore the weird hair looking marks on the pictures...think the developers messed the pictures up:

Curbed rim complete with cut tire (see where my finger is?):

View from above the hood (yeah that's still Zaino on there, didn't even get to finish polishing it off):

View from front (so that's what cleared headlights look like! Anyone wanna buy mine? NO RESERVE!):

That intake is toast!:

Side impact angle:

Yeah, but you should've seen the other guy!:

Close up of the bypass...talk about serious crumpling...wow...little pancake now:

Another view of the front (what do you guys think of my new bashed in car look? Too ricey?):

In the next two pictures you'll see the little turn in that she pulled into before whipping around on her U-Turn...

The culprit...let me help you...it isn't the two large towing guys...:

Another picture of her...Austin, TX Acura owners beware of this girl!:

Told you I'd get you all pictures!

That totally sucks,

I'd kill that bitch!

I don't know if I'd wanna keep my car after that, the car, even a slight wreck will never feel the same, then again, I'm extremely fanatical. :o

SilverKnight:
Yeah adam was good enough to fix that for me.

TypeSKid:
Nah it'll be alright. Believe me I've been in much worse wrecks than this and the car has been perfect...you just gotta make sure they know they can spend as much as they need...and don't take it unless it's absolutely perfect. Besides...there was extremely minor chassy damage (one screw loose). Aside from that it was 3 panels and a headlight housing. So I'm not worried

Hey Austin,
Any obvious suspension or drivetrain damage? That could easily double the repair cost. The front bumper, I think they might repair it .. Is the black easy to blend? Hope everything works out (and quickly).

Hey, by the way, the hair things on your pictures are specks of dust on the lens. You can see that the one in the upper middle is present on all the pictures so you can tell that it's not actually on the negatives, but on the camera instead.

I would suggest getting your lens cleaned.

Bluto:
Not worried about the cost since her insurance is paying...not me. They're ordering all new pieces for a lot of stuff though. I told them to spare no expense

Nicky Pass:
I know dude...but I'm happy at the same time remember.

Chung S:

Infamous425:
