TLS owners, are you happy? would you buy again?

I test drove a G8GT, its was nice..Im trying to get to the Acura dealership to test drive some used TLS's...

The TLS has the advantage with all the cool tech features, and Interior finish...The G8 well is just a beast, and is RWD which is a positive and a negative as it wont be that good at all in the winters here as the TLS would be fine since its FWD...

DO you guys think I should spend $30K on a 07 TLS, even with the new gen coming out, or go with the G8 GT?

You'd get much better feedback if you post this in the 3G TL section...

If it was me though, I'd choose the TL. Love everything about the exterior and interior, and it performs well enough.

I'd go G8....but the cars are a little apples & oranges in terms of powertrain and features.

The OP kindly started a new thread here per my request. If this was posted in 3G, there would be a bunch of biased opinions.

Oh and IMHO- if you want a RWD sport sedan at a bargain price get the G.

If you want a good all around vehicle that doesn't necessarily excel in any one particular thing, get the TL-S.

Personally, I can't stand the "Pontiac" look that the G8 has.

Not a fan of the G8 interior (and no nav option IIRC). TL is awesome but a bit long in the tooth.

6MT TL-S vs G8 GT 6AT = TL-S
TL-S AT vs G8 GT AT = G8
6MT TL-S vs G8 GT 6MT = G8

A glaring negative is that it still isn't available in a 6-speed manual in the GT trim.... so the last comparison is hypothetical. The TL-S is a great deal right now. If it were still at invoice-MSRP ($38k) I would go for the G8 in any case.

People are saying that the 4G TL is going to grow on everyone.... not me. I liked the 3G concept, the 2G TSX grew on me sans grill, but the more I see the 4G TL the uglier it looks IMO.

I test drove the G8 and couldn't wait to get back to my 3G TL. I actually thought the G8 was sluggish...or maybe a better way to say it is not as fast as I was expecting. The G8 is a big car; if that's what you want, then it's a perfect car to get. If you don't want or need something that large, get the TL. Of course, if modding is your thing, the G8 can be tricked out in ways you couldn't even dream of for the TL...and when done, no one could consider it slower than expected .

Yep, black on black. It looked great on the outside, ok on the inside, and didn't go like I was expecting it to. It was big and heavy, and felt big and heavy. It may have a lot of power, but it's masked by the weight of the car. With a 100hp and 150tq more than my car, I'd expect it to really move, but I guess the extra 400lbs cancels most of that as it only seemed slightly faster than the TL. Don't misunderstand me, it was faster; but with that much more power, especially at lower RPMs, I'd expect it to feel a lot faster, and it didn't.

I like the TL-S, and if you want to haul ass during the winter, and mildly haul ass with lux features other times of the year, the TL is your choice.

If you want to haul ass all year round by adding an extra set of wheels with snow tires, the G8 is your choice.

Both are excellent cars with different purposes.

That was my assessment as well. Still a great buy for the money though.

Well its pretty simple. If you want the HP go with the GT, but keep in mind thats all your getting. Thats why I love my TL-S, its one big good old bang(big bang) for your buck package. Other than the front wheel drive, I really couldnt ask for anything else from that car. Pontiac will forever remain a pontiac, if you get my drift. Ill bet you if the TL-S was RWD it would kill the GT at the canyons, even though it has way less horespower. Anyway man thats my two cents.

Where are you located and are the winters long? I'd go for the G8 and grab some winter tires. The G8 just looks menacing to me with the engine to back it up. Unlike the TL, you also don't see too many of them on the road which is appealing to me as well. I mean, I know you're looking at the TL-S, but I've been starting to see more of them around where I live and most people can't tell them apart from the regular TL anyhow.
