Sales of TL are almost twice of G35.

 

Crazy. I've seen maybe 3 other 04 TLs on the road ever and I see at least 5+ G35 sedans on the road, every day. Not that it really matters because the TL is a better car and I am glad people are buying the G35 around here because it would suck to have the same car as everyone else.

They are probably not all 2004 G35s that you are seeing so it's a couple of years worth on the road.

 

Well the G35 is only 2003 and 2004. And yes, they are all 2004's, unless they got rid of that really, really, really ugly square thing on the trunk on the 2003.5 model.

Chevrolet sells more Malibu's that Acura sells TL's, so that must mean that the TL is a POS too, go figure... :lol1:

 

You are absolutely right. The TL outsells the sedan 2 to 1 but if you combine the sales of the coupe, they are almost equal.

The 2003.5 did remove that square thing. I think the square thing was only produced on the g35 for a few months before they changed the trunk design.

Well the G35 Coupe is a beautiful car =P , the sedan sucks.. but i was thinking of trading my car for a G35 Coupe... only because i dont use the back seats.. what do you think guys? a sports car that has beautiful exterior and a nice engine? or my beautiful Inside/out 04 TL black A-spec? dont get me wrong i love the TL, i mean LOVE... but i never use the back seats, and i wish it was a bit faster.

 

Are you an idiot? If you don't use the backseats and thats enough of a reason to get the G35 coupe, get a Nissan 350z. You don't get backseats, you get a better engine, and you get a car that looks better inside and out than the G35 coupe.

See, thats what I don't understand about the G35. The sedan is fugly when compared to the TL, and the coupe is outdone by a better looking and faster car when compared to the 350z... and infiniti is supposed to be the luxury division! I don't see why anyone could justify purchasing either, unless you wanted a 350z with a backseat or a performance sedan with AWD. But its still ugly.

 

Wouldn't you kind of expect that a first year model would have higher sales over the outgoing model? If it didn't, than something would be horribly wrong. When you look at all of the cars in the $30-40K price range, the TL makes up less than 10%. That means for every person buying a TL, nine buy something else. The car with second highest increase in sales in the same price category is the ES330. To each their own.

 

Better engine ??? WTF are you talking about the G and z have the same engine just a different CAI design that mwkes up for the +7hp on the Z(and the z weights about 175lbs less)..The G35C looks better to ME and i have a back seat when needed!!! Also, the G can out handle the Z because of the wider wheelbase..I love my coupe and hardly drive my wifes 04 TL unless i need to take 3 people with me one more thing you can MOD the HELL out of a G, thanks to the Z !!!!!!

I need a backseat once in a while and the Z doesn't offer that. The G35c also has a better interior than the Z (which is unbelievably worse than the G35c) and is almost as fast. I love the TL's exterior and interior but it is wrong wheel drive (in So Cal) and so I just purchased a G35c with the premium, nav, and performance package (18 inch wheels and lsd) for $34.5, brand new. The TL would be the same price with everything (but has extras such as bluetooth).

Test driving both, I could feel a significant difference between the two vehicles. The G35c handles much better with predictable turn in and much less understeer. No torque steer troubles and the car is extremely balanced. I fell in love with the driving dynamics.

I agree with most people's assertions that the TL is a better car. It gives you more luxury, quieter, and almost as fast in a straight line, however, I felt the G35c offered the one thing the TL couldn't give me...superior driving dynamics.

 

Actually the Z is a sports car and the G35c is Infiniti's messed up attempt at making a luxury sports car out of it.

This is good news for us G35 owners. It means that all those "the sky is falling" posts about G35's being sold to rental car companies hurting resale value will not come true.

But for the record, I think your numbers (what ever they are) are incorrect. The numbers I read indicate that the sales are about equal. And I don't have a clue why anyone cares whether you are counting coupes or sedans (and the coupes damn sure don't make up half the sales of the G).

See this shows how misinformed you are. The G35C is just as fast and has been proven many times as the 350z. It handles better as well. The G35 has a better INTERIOR than the 350z for damn sure.

 

Umm actually the Infiniti G35 coupe is the Skyline 350 GT over in Japan which is a sports car. So again your just trying to flame with no evidence.

Anyway, some car makers should ask themselves if the 500$ (or X$) more they put in each vehicle to make it RWD was worth the effort when your biggest competitor sold twice the numbers of unit with a cheaper design FWD.
