TL-S vs. Buick Regal GS Part II

Well, I've racked up about 3000 miles on the S now, so my friend w/ the Regal and I went out again to drag race behind an industrial park w/ some intersection lights -- we had the V1, so that was safe enough to try some runs.

Raced three times -- Both times, the TL-S was ahead by 1/2 car length to 90mph and slowly pulling --> minutely, rather. I was driving the Regal GS, he was in the S. The biggest issue w/ the Regal is its off-the-line traction: I thought the CL-S/TL-S was bad -- haha! This thing continued to peel out for two whole seconds. I could smell burning rubber the whole way back. I have no doubt, however, that stock vs. stock, if that Regal GS had wider, lower profile rims and tires (instead of the Goodyear Eagle GS 215/16/65's) it'd be about 1.5 carlengths in the lead the whole way -- there is so much lost potential, it seems, down there in the lower power-band w/ that 280lb-ft of torque.

They're both great engines, but feel so very different. I can't imagine what that Regal would be like if it had a 5-spd auto and RWD.

un-quotih

maybe a totally different car?
maybe the car GM should have been building instead of (or in addition to) the f body for the last 5 years

The Regal GS was the car I had PLANNED on getting because I loved that supercharged engine. I had it in my 96 Riviera. I was going to use my GM Mastercard credits toward the Regal.

Then, I just happened to be at an Acura dealer with a friend who wanted to look at used CL's and I saw the CL-S up close and personal. That was it. I drove it and the rest is history.

My car is only 2 months old and I already have 4,100 miles on it! I NEVER drive that much! I only have about 3 miles to work. The rest of the mileage is just nowhere, fun driving. At this rate, I'll have to buy the car at the end of the lease because I won't be able to afford to pay for the extra miles!

If it was lighter and a two-seater it sounds like it would be close to a supercharged Camaro.

Maybe more like a GNX.
