Hell, I'm man enough to admit I was spoilt. I was a great student, had great parents, they helped me a lot. But they taught me the value of money. I would never consider trading in a car they helped me with to get something sportier unless it was 100% on my dime.

2. I don't understand how the car is a gift, and you have to pay for it?
3. Just out of curiousity, which fine higher education institute gave you a scholarship?
Edit: Well you answered #2, right before I posted. So feel free to ignore that one.

Your credit doesn't care how nice your car is.
It cares if you make payments.

So, she paid for the car. That doesn't help build your credit. The loan is in her name. It doesn't matter who makes the payments. And you are thinking of taking the GIFT your mom gave you and getting another car, that she will have to get a loan on since you don't have the credit. You have any idea how inconsiderate that sounds. Maybe they should continue the beatings.
Talk to your mom and see if she is HONESTLY OK with you doing this.

The loan is in both of our names. Okay it was a gift. Who the hell keeps a car forever?!
