Hell, I'm man enough to admit I was spoilt. I was a great student, had great parents, they helped me a lot. But they taught me the value of money. I would never consider trading in a car they helped me with to get something sportier unless it was 100% on my dime.

Someone needs to this.

OP, trade your car. Enjoy being 19. Us old folks are dumb, we have no clue what we are talking about.

1. So what happened to the whole "I pay for everything" rant?

2. I don't understand how the car is a gift, and you have to pay for it?

3. Just out of curiousity, which fine higher education institute gave you a scholarship?

Edit: Well you answered #2, right before I posted. So feel free to ignore that one.

Your credit doesn't care how nice your car is.
It cares if you make payments.

So, she paid for the car. That doesn't help build your credit. The loan is in her name. It doesn't matter who makes the payments. And you are thinking of taking the GIFT your mom gave you and getting another car, that she will have to get a loan on since you don't have the credit. You have any idea how inconsiderate that sounds. Maybe they should continue the beatings.

Talk to your mom and see if she is HONESTLY OK with you doing this.

The loan is in both of our names. Okay it was a gift. Who the hell keeps a car forever?!

The thing is, I'm definitely for him getting the Z or the G. I know what it was like to be 19. But don't fucking say it's to save money. Just come out and say I want something sporty. It's not my money, and he ain't my kid.
