Dude they have a point. RL is an extremely nice ride. Your not paying for it. Your still in college. I could beg my mom to buy me a new car too. But why? It will just be a beater car right? Once I go back to school I'll be driving 60+ miles a day. Car value drops. Why take the extra hit on a new car? At least wait til you graduate.

Who cares if nobody is understanding... You started this thread looking for advice, we offer it but see no logic in your standpoint, so you continue to agrue with us. Go ahead and do what you want with the goddamn car, man, we don't care. We are all just trying to offer sound, financial sense to you that you clearly don't see so we might as well quit instead of exhausting our efforts. Please, do yourself a favor and save yourself the humiliation of the mockery you are creating here and stop trying to convince us that it makes sense. It doesn't and you are not going to change our minds so do what you want...

Good Luck with whatever you choose to do, though it sounds like you've made up your mind.

Okay-- I was 20 when I got my 2nd Gen TL-S. I did some modifications-- but looking back, maybe not the brightest thing to do. I spent money when I didn't have any and racked up a whole buncha debt.

Long story short-- it took me the first 3 years out of school paying back the credit cards at roughly $500 a mo. before finally getting out, clean of the situation.

If I had to do it over again.. I wouldn't. But then, this is me now vs. then.

Wise words.

Listen to him.

I experienced the same situation (not modding cars though) on a smaller scale. It sucks.

So i was looking for a lower loan and get maybe a G35 2005 or a 350Z. I need to stay atleast $20K to keep my payments lower. I might just leave the Acura family But a G35/350Z coupe is nice and fits me! What do you guys think? Any other cars i could look at.
BTW. Your mom is smarter than you. Listen to her. (she's essentially giving the same advice as all of us here )

I sort of went through what you are going through now buddy. 3 years ago I wanted a TSX (it was quite new back then), but parents didn’t want to spend more than CAD$20k. Even a used TSX back then would cost CAD$30k+. So instead we bought a 02 TL-S, which was at CAD$24k. I wasn’t that happy at first because it was a TL..not a TSX. But it didn’t take long before I started liking the TL. I guess one of the reasons is I joined Azine, and read about the mods that can be done with the car. The TL-S is arguably a rare car, especially in WDP. So even though it does look as sporty as the TSX, the uniqueness is certainly there. Now with my JDM emblems and lip kit, as well as blacked out headlight housing, I love my car much more than before. So what I’m getting at is that, you just got the RL for one week. Give yourself and the RL a few more months, may be it will grow on you. If it doesn’t, then go ahead and get yourself a G35 or 350Z. It’s not like you will not be able to buy either one a few months later. In fact, they will even be cheaper. Also, you won’t lose $1500 from your RL in just one week. I myself would love to have a RL, but too bad I cannot afford one right now. IMO, the a-spec lip kit and rims would make the car look MUCH better and sportier. Then the a-spec suspension kit would make the car sportier, I’d say, even better than the TL. And you won’t feel understeer thanks to the SH-AWD. The RL is already very rare, to make it more unique, get some JDM emblems and you have one of the rarest cars in the US.

I always find it funny when other kids my age play the "I pay for everything" card. Reality check, the only reason why you have what you have is because of your parents. What do you do for a living? About the same shit everyone else your age is doing I presume. So why is it that you drive an RL when other kids drive a TC or civic?

You made this same thread in the TL forum and said you were thinking of getting an 07 G35s. Thats not lowering payments. You owned yourself with the paying for insurance. And if your parents needed you to help out with the bills, I doubt you'd be driving an RL. Stop trying to make yourself look like a miracle kid. Your more spoiled than I am.

I sense jealousy in the forums

Going to an 07 TL-S would make your payments bigger wouldnt they?

Trust me kid, its not jealousy you're sensing. Most of the older guys here don't give a rats ass what you drive.

You asked us for advice on what was a pretty self explanatory situation IMO. Should you take out a loan on another car? No. Should you take out a loan on a used car? No. Should you stick with what you have? Sure, since at this point you already have payments and going to another car is ultimately going to cost you more money out of your pocket regardless.

Maybe wait till after college to decide? Maybe you'll be more intelligent by then. But that seems like a highly unlikely maybe.

Yep, jeolousy...that's it. You ask for input. You don't like the advise you get. We're all jeolous. I read your first post in this thread and I just kept thinking that here is a kid I would love to be.

IMHO, sell the RL. You will not be happy unless you do it. But don't say that you're doing it to save money. IMO, that's BS. You are going to reduce your payments by getting a G35 and then spend hundreds or thousands more modding it because you won't be happy with a stock G35. So, instead of paying $100 more a month for a car payment, you will spend $1200 in one shot on mods. Good savings plan.

Don't do it because you are saving money, do it because you want too. You asked us what to do and most of us would be extremely happy with an RL, so we say keep it. You don't agree. It's your money; spend it however you like.

i'm also curious where your getting the credit to get these loans. Somebody is co-signing with you. Either way, it's not jealousy you sense but more logical minds. I don't think you understand what everyone is saying because your on the defense. I think most people are saying that your a student and unless your working a full time job your not going to afford a 50k car. You probably work to pay for your car, no living expense. Even if you did pay for the car on your own monthly, could you truely own this car without your parents? Meaning, live on your own and pay for everything?

I went to the dealer and got a deal together....my credit is good...its not costing me anything out of pocket! I pay right now 450 a month on the RL...with the Z my payments are looking like $390...

So, you really want us to believe your only reason is to save $60? In NYC $60 is a round at a bar. I know. I did it for 8 years.

It comes with age. Trust me, it will happen to you as well. At 19, most of us had the option to either have a used Camry, or a hand me down Accord. And $20K for a car was not even an option. So when we see a 19 year old KID talking about owning a RL and looking to downsize to a G35 to save cash, we smell BS.
