TL pricing out.....

We've just heard from an Acura dealer that the base price of the '04 Acura TL is $33150, inclusive of the $500 destination charge (set to be increased to $545 on October 2),. The navigation system is still a $2000 option. No word on the Performance Tire option pricing yet.

I just got this E-Mail from my local dealer:

Dear Shawn:

I just wanted to let you know that the long-awaited formal introduction of our brand-new 2004 Acura TL is only a few days away. Just a few hours ago, we received our first two units . . . . one is Silver and the other Anthracite. You are certainly invited to visit our showroom anytime to see the new TL. Please give me a call or email if you would like to set an appointment - - - - I'll be happy to set aside a specific time for you to take a test drive.

You're going to LOVE the new TL.

Looking forward to seeing you here at Lehigh Valley Acura in Emmaus.

I got a card in the (snail) mail from my dealer/salesman a couple weeks ago. I'm not in the market now so I'm not going out of my way to see one.

The pricing seems OK to me, about $2K more then the 2003 CL-S. We're talking MSRP here. Let's see what they are dealing (which will follow demand). Hopefully, like the CL, the average 'real' price will drop closer to invoice. Of course the TL is a pretty hot seller as it is. Give a couple months for the dust to settle.

I've learned my lesson twice on buying 1st year released vehicles. No thanks.

35K is not much for what you get. Go price a Lexus, Infiniti, MB, BMW, Audi w/ the same options.

You know I don't get destination charges. I mean hell they want to sell you a car right? Shipping shouldn't be extra. It's like when you go to buy a motorcycle and the dealer tries to charge you for taking the bike out of the crate and puttin it together. It strikes me as being a little ridiculous. It's be like going to Wal-Mart and buying a case of Pepsi, first they tack on sales tax and then they'd charge you some more for shippin it to the store.

That is a lot for a fwd TL. The 4 door G would still be a better buy IMO.

they will be selling at invoice within 3 months. look at the G35 Coupe....oh-so-hot for the first few months, dealers upcharging, blah blah blah....now it sells at invoice...

same thing with EVO's...some douchebags spent 15k or more OVER msrp....look now, its no big deal, dealerships have them on the lots and showrooms, they are selling for msrp or even less.

The new TL will be more powerful and, IMHO, have a better interior than a G35. I think it's a better buy...but maybe that's just me.

Its also heavier and FWD. BTW, an AWD G35 will probably cost the same as the TL.

That might be true. But the TSX has been out for what 6 months and they're still selling at MSRP with waiting lines in some areas of the country (2 months in MN). And this is with a yet-to-be-proven model. The TL is one of the best selling luxury cars on the market with some name recognition. Now it's getting some major upgrades for a nominal price increase. My feeling is, it'll sell well.

We got our first one in today...SSM auto w/ no navi...lemme say this...the pics on the internet do this vehicle no justice
This car is fucking amazing!!!
You must see it in person to actually appriciate everything. $33,150 base price just like Zapata said. To get an Audi, Lexus, BMW, Benz, etc...w/ this much luxury/performance/styling/features...you'd be paying at least 50K

same old tricks, underproduce a model so dealers can keep the pricetag high. i also doubt a g coupe is selling at invoice, there's absolutely no need to, it isn't an i35. don't see the big deal about the tl price increase either, you want luxury, pay for it. people pay more for an es330.

I went to my dealer to see it in person and i must say for what u get its not a rediculous price at all. The interior is SICK, gotta sit in it to really take it all in. Im not sold on the exterior but its ok. What Ant7701 said is so true, a new 530 is 53k, come on now it aint that special.

yeah...and the new 530 has only 225 hp...also the new TL w/ black leather has a new interior trim that you can't see on the computer...instead of titanium...it looks like silver carbon fiber...also the center console and doors have black carbon fiber right next to the silver trim. The front grill is brushed alluminum...the rear license plate area in the trunk lid is all carbon fiber...NO CHROME ON THE ENTIRE CAR....CLEAN LOOK!!!

Test drove an 04 TL auto trans today. I felt that the new TL is faster than the old TL TYPE S. Amazingly that extra 10 HP felt good. The throttle is electronic and it felt kind of weird. When I tried to brake torque or power brake the new TL for a Launch, it wouldn't let me it took off like it was in 2nd. The front lower sub frame is made of aluminum seems to be light weight but it is very ugly. Look like it just came from monster garage with lots of uneven weld spots. Oh, don't think any headers will ever be made for the new TL, Acura installed a catalytic convertor right after the exhaust manifold. Other than those complains I think it is better looking than a G35. The interior is nice and the 260 watt XM stereo is awesome.
