Is the TL a gateway drug to BMW?
I've had alot of friends with TL, and after 5 years, they've all converted to BMW's..... They say once you go Sport/Luxury, you can't go back..... your always going to want a greater "HIGH"..... I love my TL..... I've only had it for a 6 months.... I'm not planning on keeping it forever.... but when the day comes to get a new whip..... what would be the closet thing to the feeling of having a TL?....
but you can say this about any car I guess..... But I feel like I have to go European for my next car..... just cuz i don't think 4G TL and alot of other next gen Vehicles got that flavor that the TL had in it's HEY DAY..... I think having a TL feels the same as having a BMW.....
DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT???

I understand the maintenance costs, but only worry about that 60k miles down the line.... that's if you buy new.... and AUDI is trying to be more reasonable with their pricing..... All I know is.... I'll never go american..... either japanese or EURO...... and when I mean Japonese... I mean either Nissan GTR or Acura ( if their 5G TL looks better I'll jump on it)

Yeah, honestly, I was eyeing a 540i before I got the TL, but I drive just too many damn miles to make it a fiscally responsible purchase.
Now, if I were leasing?
Hmmmm...
Great performance vehicles, but not all are in a wise position to play.

Unless TLs took a big turn for the better in the looks department or the next Type-S is kick ass...I'd probably go with an M5. Four doors are so convenient & you want your passangers to enjoy all aspects of the ride. My dad has a G35 coupe & it sucks getting in & out of the back seat.

I can't keep my TL forever, but it certainly does fit in to this generation of vehicles.... but the look will eventually fade,.... 4G will probably grow into it's look (I STILL WON'T GET IT)....but I know in 5 years from now, I will just leave the TL to my wife and settle down with a 5 series.... It's hard to tell since most cars change the look every 5 years or so, but BMW is pretty consistant with it's grill and flow of the car..... i think 5G TL will look (should look) better.....

I guess the TL is not necessarily a gateway to BM's but diffenitly to a EURO car,.... or atleast a higher luxury sedan..... i think most people that have coupes.... usually stay with coupes..... my brother-in-law has had nothing but coupes in his life..... CL... RSX.... now a g35..... but he also has a 04 accord sedan for his kids... but he never really touches that thing.......

We're all different and growing up, but it does seem that Acura is moving in a direction that is not parallel with the users on this board. Compared to the European competition it seems like a no brainer - at least with Acura, it does seem that Infiniti is still going in the right direction and while Lexus may not be what enthusiasts want they have their niche and are doing a tremendous job. What I think surprises me the most is modern american muscle cars, I find myself investigating them as much as Euro Sport/Luxury cars.
For me I plan on moving to a warmer climate very soon, I don't drive much, about 6k per year, and I've had high revving low torque cars for the past 5 or so years - something about torque down low from a big'ole V8 just sounds like a nice change. That said I do like the smooth refined power of the Euro Luxury-Sport cars. What I end up replacing the Si with will depend on what I'm feeling like the day I decide its time for a new car. Something from BMW, Infiniti, Ford, Porsche, Lexus or Dodge would not surprise me!

+1 on LaCrosse. I test drove one a few weeks ago and it was surprisingly nice.
As for Audi, I had one before my TL. Never again.

Just had new TL fwd for a loaner. Impressive luxury car. I don't know what BMW that would compare to, 7?
I would consider springing for the shawd 6mt, the loaner was white, had a rear deck spoiler so the back wasn't so bad, and desnoutification is now available
