I bought some from treadepot.com for my sister's BMW a few weeks ago. Great prices, no sales tax, and free shipping!! Although I did use tirerack.com for research. The price was just a couple dollars more on tirerack but then you had to add the shipping and that's where treadepot beat them. They had the lowest price I could find.

In my defense, they've tried to get me back several times but I've managed to catch the slide all but twice (and in those cases, I was fortunate to land shiny side up in a gravel pit and not into the mountain or off the side). On on a more positive note, they're much softer than Hankook K104s, they lose traction progressively, and they seem to be wearing very evenly (~20k miles, about 4/32" left). Gas mileage has been good too. Just not quite what I was looking for.

On a tangent, won't I save on sales tax (vs Discount Tire) if I buy from Tirerack?
that's what i figured since i couldn't find them anywhere else.

at least i had a $50 coupon. and the tires have a 60,000 miles warranty.

i hate how when i get discount tire to try and price match tire rack, they mark down the tire to what its listed at on tirerack's website and inflate all their other numbers such as balance and installation and other shit...basically ends up being the same price when the subtotal is shown. So the last time they tried to pull that BS on me, i said okay ill take it but i just want to pick up the tires...
he had a shocked look on his face like "FUCK," he was like i can't do that, I was like why???? and asked him to get the manager. Manager asked why aren't u getting it installed here?
I told him I have a shop that will do it for $5 a tire vs. your $30 a tire ($15 mount and dismount? wtf) and he just said Oh and ended up sellin me the tires. they always try to screw u over and mind you these are only 225/50/17 tires for a tl-s rim, who the fuck pays $30 to get those mounted...

I get tires at my local Samsclub !! The installed price may be $30-$50 higher for 4 tires. But the warranty and claim service is very hassle free, plus you get free tire rotations and balancing. To me the free rotations are worth about $120 or more as other places charge $15-20 for a rotation and you probably can do 5 - 8 rotations over the life of the tire.

Plus no extra time spent for service as all is done while we shop so that is a plus

local used tire shop, and they do a fast job too, unlike discount tire which is always packed and takes at least 1-2 hrs

All the tires I've purchased in the past have come from Tirerack... so I voted Tirerack.

That said, I currently need a new tire for my truck, and I looked at Tirerack, but I'm going to give my local shop a try in addition to checking with Sam's Club.

Discount Tire FTMFW. They price match and since I have been shopping with them for a while actually beat the price I wanted matched.

So much cheaper to go with Tirerack and find a place to mount them. Most shops here charge almost double for tires and nobody knows any better.

Ordered 18" winter rims from Tirerack and Nokian WR G2 tires from tiresbyweb.com

Love the Nokian tires for winter. Almost went with Dunlop Wintersport 3D (because fsttyms1 has only good things to say about them) but since the WR G2 is the next gen of their WR line ("all-climate" tires with the snowflake on the sidewall), I went with those.

Where I live, I don't need a dedicated snow tire since roads are plowed and salted fairly often but the odd street is not regularly serviced, so I don't want my G to get stuck there.

I also hope 401 driving (expressway linking Detroit <-> Montreal via Toronto) won't be too bad this winter.

I voted Tirerack due my experience with them (and my friend's experience) throughout the years. Would also give the nod to Discount Tire but a no to Belle Tire.

maybe because the discount tire i go to, is where everyone from sugarland goes to that it's always packed...then again its always like high school kids doing the work on the car at most of em, i just dont trust them with it.

I've had numerous people that have had rims scratched or lug nuts stripped from there, including my dad. They had to give him a certificate to go to mineike and get it fixed at their expense, but still a hassle..

Town Fair...

They price match, and I like the fact that I get free tire rotations and flat repairs for the life of the tires... Until tirerack starts doing that, I'll stick with the local places...

I went with the Yoko AS430 (which is made specically for sale only at Town Fair Tire)... At about 28K miles on them now, and they only have a 40K warranty. Looks like I'll be looking for tires sometime next year again. $125 per tire (I did some haggling, since tirerack doesn't carry the as430, so no price match). $651 out the door with alignment, and $6 per tire road hazard (free replacement of any tire they can't patch or fix).

I liked the Yoko H4/V4's that I had on before, but I only had a pair of those Yoko's with a pair of the OEM's, so my opinion on about the AS430 vs. the H4/V4 is probably skewed a bit...

The wear on the yoko's are decent, but you HAVE to rotate them... otherwise they wear out very quickly... They are not a great snow or rain tire (little squirrelly sometimes if you're pushing it), but a decent all around tire for the price.

Edge Racing - I had them drop shipped to the installer, who charged $15 each to mount, balance, etc. I saved $160 on the set versus the local guys.

PS - they have some smokin' wheel deals, too.
