Tire Set- Heard of it?

my 03 has a wobble when driving from cold that disappears after a bit. It happens with the same frequency/ intensity irrespective of which wheel/ tire I have on.

A tipsy guy at a party was telling me it was the tires, but he did not seem like a car guy and didn't offer further, so I kinda dismissed his drunken input.

Then, on another forum I frequest, the phrase 'tire set' was dropped. The User didn't have further input either, and goodness, searching 'tire set' on Google is a waste of time.

Anybody?

It is most likely not your tires then if it doesn't matter which tires/wheels you have on. I would take it to a reputable alignment shop and have them check it out.

I think by 'tire set', they were probably referring to flat-spotting...

Depending on which sets of tires you were on, it could possibly be that by coincidence that the sets of tires you've used all flatspot in the cold (and when the car has been sitting overnight, etc). It's not unlikely, but then really depends on what tires you've used..

I would want to say it's something else but the fact taht it goes away with the cold... I guess it's possible

Flatspotting usually happens when a car is left in one spot for a long period of time... My VW in the garage probably had flat spotted tires since it's been in there for 6 years...

I get the lumpy every morning...is overnight believed enough time to flatspot?

Running Exclaim UHPs in the 225/45. My reference to changing wheels/ tires was the result of rotating tires.

Thanks, all!

Yes... usually more likely to happen with tires with a thinner side wall or harder compound. Happens on the Kumho ASX's on my TSX, and the RE050's on what used to be my s2k.

Never happened on the stock Michelin's MXMV4 on the TSX, neither the balloon tires on my old civic, neither the two different sets of Yokohama's on the Maxima..

Depends on the tire design/compound, I guess

Flat spotting-I'll get it with the 245/45-17 Yoko Advan S.4 at every start, after the car has been sitting. The car isn't used normally in the winter, but we drove to a mall last December, and after sitting for a few hours, when the car was driven home, the flat spotting was there once again for about a mile or two.

Here's an explanation:
