Tire experiences
The wifes RSX and my DD Integra both need tires before winter. We don't want snow tires on either car, looking for a high performance all season.
What tires would you reccomend for all round performance including slick/snowy conditions? I've had the Continental Extreme Contacts that well, but I'd like your experiences.
Thanks!

Funny my first response was going to be Continental DWSs. Great reviews, excellent wear rating and dry grip and pretty inexpensive compared to other all seasons. These will most likely be my next set of tires. Possibly moving back east sooner than later.
I had Potenzas on my TL before I moved on over to Continental DWS. I just picked up a second car, an S2000, and it came with Potenzas. I'm switching to Contis soon on the S too. There seems to be a pattern here lol
Continental DWS are amazing in snow conditions (check out tirerack's testing on them) and they are pretty amazing in wet conditions. In dry conditions they are really good but don't compare to a real summer tire. They grip VERY well however the only real issue I've had with them is the softer sidewalls (which provide an amazing ride) give a little less feedback when your driving.

lol when i was searching for my dad I found this tire to be one of the best too
so +100 on the conti's
I may need new tires soon, but I dont need all season. Wonder if the conti's DW get as much praise worthiness.

I have them on my car right now Continental DWS, great tire in snow or rain. A little soft on the sidewall though, but then again I have 16" rims that aren't low profile so that could very well be different for you guys with 17-19" wheels.
At this point it's probably safe to say if you don't buy these tires you're a fool.
There are a few of us on the board that have teggy's. Have you done any mods to yours?

More of the money goes to the house, the TL-S, or the wife's RSX.
Thanks, OP and everyone, I was just going to go shopping for new tires soon too. It doesn't snow in Hawaii, but I do like to have a good all weather tires since I've driven in some pretty heavy rain. Sounds like I have a good solution for me too. Now just need to track down where to get some here.
high performance all season.
The DWS is an inexpensive tire. Some people on BMW forums find them too soft and that hurts the precision of driving.
This is reflected in Tirerack surveys where the DWS gets 8.2 and Pilot Sport A/S Plus gets 8.9 in both cornering stability and steering response.
Sounds like you have your answer. But do not get Toyo Versados if you're going to be driving in snow. They ride great on dry pavement and are super quiet, but they sucked in the snow. That's about all I can contribute, I run Dunlop Wintersport 3Ds in the winter now.
Definitely Continental DWS!! I agree with others that the sidewall is a little on the soft side but they make up for it with how good they are in the snow and rain. I have them on my slammed CL and I had no problems what so ever in the good Ol' Wisconsin winters.
I am the only person here that didn't love their DWS. I found them very loud and the noise I got was a harmonic noise. It was annoying. I also had a lot of issues with keeping them balanced. More than is normal for the TL.
As for performance they were great in dry and wet. I replaced them before winter. If I didn't spend 3 hours a day in my car I would have kept them.
I ended up getting Michelin Primacy MXM4. They are a bit more but they are a lot quieter, easier to keep balanced and above average performance in dry and wet. They have been through 2 rotations so far and no issues what so ever. Tirerack have them rated high for snow performance as well.
One bit of advice is that Continental has a 60 day Ride Satisfaction Guarantee on their DWS tires. Try them out. But keep in mind if you do not like them you will be forced to stay with a Continental / General tire.

The claim is that the would get 50K miles out of them. What I can say is that I had them on my TL for about 7K miles and when I replaced them I had 8/32 left. They are 11/32 with no miles. I was a little concerned that 3/32 was already gone.
The original Michelin tires had 74,000 miles when I replaced them. They all measured 4/32. The Yoko's I now have now have almost 53,000 miles and are at 6/32. Now doing my research for the next tires.
I think if you live in a area that gets zero snow the Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S is the best tire I have ever had. They are a perfect blend of comfort and performance and the steering feel is great. Just dont trust them in snow. I got stuck in the slightest incline it them, the incline was so slight it was embarassing.
I've had the Pilot Sport A/S and I hated that tire. Excess harshness and made my car steer heavier. Only lasted 30k with rotations.
I currrently have the primacy Mxv4 and they are damm smooth, steering feel is lost a bit, I would recommend if you a easy ride.
So I gone thru some expensive Michelin Tires. But from now on, will probably try the Korean brands. Michelin charges way too much and from I have read the Korean brand like Hankook, Kumho are not too behind for a lot less. I have the Hankook Ice Bears winter tires for my Mazda3 on right now and they are great tires so far.

My job has me on the road all day, every day. I have tried various tire manufacturer's products over the years.
Even though I have owned a small fleet of Honda/Acura vehicles, a tire from Michelin always ended up being the top performer on each one ... SUVs, sedans and even a convertible.
I am absolutely sold and won't be doing any further experimenting. Michelin tires have never been cheap, but they have never disappointed either.
