To tint the windows or not?

I just got my new G last week, I don't plan on modifying it really, but i did accessorize. So far I put front and back clear bumper protection, I am changing the foglight bulbs with the Sylvania Silverstar bulbs to match the HID (Being that the fog light is just under the low beam in the same lens). I also have a problem with the POS stock tires that they came with, the Bridgestone Potenza EL42's (same as the TL), so I'm upgrading from 215/55/17 to 235/50/17 Pilot Sport A/S, I should be getting those this weekend. Next thing I'm contemplating is to tint the windows. I never owned a car with tints aside from the FX, which had 20% tints in front and a nasty blind spot of an A-pillar, so seeing outside in the dark is pretty bad. I don't really drive the FX much though, it's more my brothers car than mine. My last 2 cars had black interior, so even without tints it sort of darkened the look inside, whereas this car has grey interior. I would put 35% tints if anything...Wadya think?

it's a must.

I was back in NY this past month and my Jeep has no tint on the front window.

I'm so use to being able to pick my nose, or making funny faces at cops or other drivers...or even just stare at hot girls.

You know how many times I got caught this vacation doing things, because I forgot I wasn't in my Acura.

BTw I have 15-18% on the fronts of my Acura
and limo on the sides and back.

It's not a question of "whether" but "how much"

I just did it....

35% all around...Only problem is I'm anal about the tiny bubbles around window. The side windows came out great, but the back still needs to dry before I can push down the imperfections because it's still wet..

Looks pretty good

Quick question, how is 35% tint compared the amount of tint on an SUV or Van (rear windows)?

ah.. Thanks! I've got a black interior so 35% would probably be good enough for me

How are you liking the G35 Sedan...I really like them and want to get one

But for the brief time I was in one, I felt it was way too small for my height.

and problems with this?

that's also because it's cloudy out...and the angle at which you are taking that picture.
when it's real sunny you can see right into my windows that are around 15%

you can never see into my limo tinted ones.

Anytime it is cloudy or at night, you can just see the outline or shadow of someone driving the car.

Considering the last 2 cars I have, it's definately better than the '99TL, and it's different than the last car I had, the GS300. The GS was so smooooth, the G35 doesn't feel as buttery smooth as the GS was. The G35 is more my taste though in terms of sportiness. I definately think the '05 G35 is much nicer than the '04, even though the changes were subtle, it's a nice change. My wife is taking some time getting used to the G, but eventually she will love it like she did with the GS. She "loves the sound of the engine and the power". I cracked up when she said that. My only complaints is the Bose radio is lousy compared to the factory Lexus system, which blows it away, IMO. The other complaint is the side view mirrors don't work with the memory seats/steering wheel like the GS did, the side view mirrors aren't auto dimming like the GS was, and they don't tilt down in reverse, which the GS didn't have, but I wouldn't mind it.
As for headroom, I'm not really tall, I'm 5'10, fit fine in the car. In addition, the G35 has more headroom than the GS, so if you've been in a GS before and had no head clearance problems, you should be ok with the G

Would you still have tinted your windows if tinting the front windows were illegal?

Even though 35% is technically "Legal", I know many many many people that have gotten tickets because the police uses this gauge to determine the percentage and it comes out to like 33% visibility or something..

I have 35% all around, still looks great and on rainy days you can't see in, but in the sun, it is almost like there is nothing on the windows.

As you can see the sun is shining right in, so you can see a little...but any overcast or not during the day and you can't see in at all

Thanks for the write up. I haven't been a GS Lexus in some time.
I'm 6'3", and I don't fit in the CL well. (bought it when I was only 6') I just rub my head on the top, and I can't wear a hat while driving.

Anyhow, yeah I figured it would be a little "sportier" ride. But they are still quiet cars from what I've heard.
Also for $36K how many nice cars can you buy with AWD, navi, and nearly 300hp.

The car is quiet, but it's got a little growl to it when it's revving up there, not as quiet as the Lexus, that's for sure! Also, as much as I would like to drop the car slightly, I'm not the only person driving the car anymore(wife), so I expect her to scrape the crap out of the front if I did lower it, so I'm probably going to leave it stock height.

these pictures all depend on how sunny it was when they were taken and at what angle they were taken. also on the color of the interior

my next car will have 35-50% on the front windsheild.
I really don't want people seeing into my car at all. Just some pet peeve I have.

also will keep the car a little cooler here. in the summer you can hardly touch the top of the steering wheel, after it is in a parking lot all day.

I had 35% on my taurus and I liked it. I always wished it was a touch darker during the day though. I got 20% on the sides, 5% on the rear window, and 50% on the windshield of my CL-S. I definitely like it better than the 35%, but I wouldnt have gone this dark if I didnt have a DR's note saying that I need window tint.

This is taken on a full sunny day, with the sun directly behind me. You can see the difference even 50% makes on the winshield.

50%... If I put that on my front side windows, you think cops would notice easily?

You should be fine with 50% tints in front. You can barely notice them!
