Not necessarily. They'll get you pulled over for sure (I got pulled over near dodger's stadium...cop actually took the effort to pull me over)

Research your tint...darker doesn't always mean better. One of the ones that I've heard good stuff about is formula 1's pinnacle series. I'm considering it...after all, I hear it won't affect the TSX's navi system

I did charcoal Lulmar at 25% and while I do get pulled over for it, there is a noticable difference in the heat inside a black on black TSX. I had problems for the first few months with my navi, and now its been perfect for awhile.

I really don't feel a difference in heat with tint & without. My car is just as hot after it sits in the South FLA sun & it's 85 out.
That mirror stuff is nasty looking IMHO. Get a dark charcoal. Also the mirror stuff cuts your radar detector range by a massive amount as well as alarm antennas, & GPS.

Thanks for the input everyone. One of the early 1990s Mazdas had a built in solar powered fan that blew the hot air out as car was parked and engine off. I'm wondering how complicated it would be to get that set up on our Acuras. Saw one on an infomercial but it looked pretty hokey. I dont trust those rinky dink outfits.

What is advantage of charcoal?

It's just regular tint instead of the mirror stuff.
