Hey guys i got pulled over by an asshole cop for tinted windows in Brooklyn and he wrote me a ticket for having 13%tint.
How much is it? i could not find it on the back. And what to do to get out of it without paying? Thanks for the help.

Tints is NOT a word

 

You can just pay it and keep driving around like that hoping not to get another one. Tint laws are getting strict in NY now, so your 20% isnt gonna cut it, especially when those detectors they use always show it darker than it is. Get it removed and go lighter. I have, I think, 30% and havent gotten a ticket. Dont expect to not get messed with driving around with that dark tint.

 

It is when the windows aren't the same color/shade...

My uncle had a 35% tint on his car and got a ticket, the cops claim saying it was 25%. I have 35% on all my cars and knock on wood, no ticket yet.

 

Does it screw up the reading if the window is dirty? It must, right?

 

I just got out of my tint ticket (I have 35% all around) I had the Dr write a note and I filed the proper paperwork with the state for an excemption

 

Our windows are already slightly tinted from the factory.
My 35% measured 26% on the cop-o-meter because the windows are already blocking 10% of the light.
That’s why 20% measures 10 (or 13).

I got a medial exemption and I’m currently waiting to see if my tint ticket gets thrown out.

Same shit happened to me. Some cop standing on the corner in downtown brooklyn pulled me over, cleaned a section of my window and put the tint-meter on. I've got 30% and the meter measured 29%. He gave me a ticket for one window and said he'd do me a favor and not write me up for the passenger side since I was being so cooperative(whatever). I just paid the ticket. I still see the same cop from time to time, but he doesnt bother with me anymore.

 

Yup, happened to me a few weeks ago on Shore Parkway in Brooklyn. The cop was pulling over cars, told me to roll my window up, and my 35% tint measured 27%. He gave me a ticket for the driver side window and threatened to write me up for all of them when I argued with him. Whatever, he was a real arrogant prick anyway. Don't these guys have rapists, drug dealers, and murderers to arrest?

I paid $60 for the ticket. You're better off just paying it instead of going to court, because who really wants to bother with fighting it in court three months later? Unless you have a valid excuse like Lasik surgery or something (which is still iffy), you won't beat them.

 

Because in NYC especially Brooklyn, cops should have better things to do. All tinted cars in NYC are illegal because 75% is the legal limit, which is basically like having no tint what so ever. So if you're getting pulled over for tints...that cop is an asshole.

I got pulled over last year for 20% that read 18% on the meter. The guy gave me a ticket and i was on my way. If you know anyone that is a cop or anyone that is good friends with a cop,have him fill out the inspection form that shows that he "insepcted" the car and the tint was removed. I had my friends friend who is a NYC cop do it for me, i sent it in to the court and a month later got a letter saying that the charges was dropped! worked like a charm!
