Thoughts on a 2008 BMW Z4 coupe (E86)?
Now if you have kids, then that is another issue.
As far as the Z4, if you like the car go for it.. just make sure you have a plan to get things fixed in case if they break down... I am not saying that they will break down more often than Japanese cars. In my experience, German cars are actually more reliable. The issue is when they do break down, they cost more than the Japanese cars to fix, if you want to get it done right. That is the difference to me.

Let me just say, I'm obsessed with this car.
It has maintained a top 5 ranking for weekend cars for me. I look occasionally, but don't have the free time to really justify the purchase. I came close to signing papers in 2011 and walked away. But have been spot checking pricing every couple months since. Again, a few months ago, I came close to buying, still with no time to drive one, I was going to garage queen it for future appreciation purposes. But alas, I'm may convert my garage into something else, and that was the only reason I opted out. Something about the look, uniqueness, and handling have me constantly on the fringe.
If you are in the market, and this is an option, I say go for it. Don't settle for anything other than the 3.0si, and be careful with the very limited auto/manual trannys. I doubt you'll ever come across that configuration, but it does not have good reviews, and was a test mule for its time.
deep down, I feel like the look of the z4 coupe could make it a future classic. Call me crazy. But to my surprise, some journalists have come out of the woodwork as of recently and said the same thing.

I would be curious to drive one...I bet it feels more refined than an S2000.
S2000 is very precise but since I've been daily'ing a German lately...I will say there's something very satisfying about the way they drive.

But this has been really helpful. The cars at which I'm taking a much harder look: Z4 coupe (E86) and the 350Z (Z33) or 370Z (Z34).
Is it a coincidence that they're all "Z cars"???
This is the one I want but simply cannot afford....

I get the feeling Nanxun really wants a black car. Every time he posts one, it's always black.
I too, like everyone, love the look of a black car.
but after my 1992 Civic Si... never again. It's simply not worth it. As plain and boring as silver is, shiieeet, I've grown to appreciate it. The Nismo has the red and dark grey accents that make it not so boring... but yeah.. I can see the value in having a silver car. It will always look good, even with basic care.

Don't like black cars; never have, never will. I've had mostly silver and tan/beige rides. Easy to keep presentable, but boring AF. I'm now very much into the Royal Blue Pearl of my TL and would LOVE to find a Z4 coupe in a similar tint.
Something like this:

I'm sure there are plenty out there from private parties that would be even cheaper especially if you are willing to travel to get it.

When you picking up one of these whips; I think I recall a Range Rover thread, a P Car thread, the Z4 lust here, and I believe even a Volvo thread
