Thinking of leaving the Acura family for the new FX50
Montreal is a shi**y place to live, crazy winters, devastating roads filled with enormous potholes!!
Not an ideal place for a dropped suspension, some sick 20's and a vehicule that isnt AWD.
So im leaning towards the SUVS, checked out the MDX, nice but was missing something to it to give me a hard-on...The new FX50 was just right the second i sat into it, just like the 1st time i sat in the TL, you know that gutsy feeling you get when you feel so confident behind that steering wheel....anyways i guess im getting carried away.......LOL
What do you guys think? A good choice for an upgrade? Its my second car and im only 26

Thanks

isn't the fx50 a 55k+ sticker car?? IMO tl looks better, and I would probably keep it ... the economy is pretty bad right now, i would say just stick with the tl, and get some winter tires much cheaper
a new car is always nice though ... if u can afford it go for it

The new FX is sick much less the FX50. The 390hp AWD monster. I mean if your financially ok to pay for that car then by all means. If your just getting impatient/pissed off because of the weather there. Then maybe you should take VQ's advice and get some winter tires. But it is a sick looking car. Infiniti is my fav car company, you cant go wrong with any of their cars. (in good weather conditions of course)

I did the opposite, I went from FX to TL-S.
FX I believe is on of the best handling SUV out there. I loved it in the winter. The wide stance... Great car. A lot of interior space. I just really disliked the mpg and the constant exhaust note.

Thinking about the FX50 gives me wood. That is a badass 'ute. V8 5.0L Monster.. drop it an inch or two.. oh baby.
There was a FX45 / 35 in Hawaii it was deep blue and bagged. Man that car was a head turner. I like the body style.. the new / old body style. Go for it.. I think the FX50 will give Cayenne S turbo / Trailblazer SS and Jeep GC SRT-8 a run for it's money.

.. this is an edmunds test.. they always seem to be a little conservative. I wonder what the C&D test is.. probably merciless as usual.

btw.. If you're going to buy that badass and you have the Loons then come down to the U.S. and spend some of you higher valued dough here.. We'll even put in a guage cluster that has KM on top and MPH on bottom.. lol..

I can't stand the way the FX looks (exterior). Just like the 4G TL, hideous... My neighbor just got one and doesn't even keep it clean. Tires look way too big for the vehicle. They come up to the window of my TL! The interior is decent though.

The Box
I'm personally not a huge fan of the new FX's. I have however driven an FX45 in the snow with the stock 20" wheels and I'd still recommend getting a winter set....The SUV drives much like a sports car, is a pretty bumpy ride and is not very roomy for an SUV...
I'd get a nice Range Roverwith a warranty if I was going to spend that kind of loot.

the new FX body style = nasty
just get MDX. Have you checked out the interior of MDX? It's the best in its class, imo.

on to the next one...
Got the wife an 06 FX35 a couple of months ago and we both love it.
Handles great in shitty weather and is pretty fun to drive.
I've driven both the new MDX and the Q7 and I can honestly say I like the FX's better.
...I don't think the 18-20 mpg is that bad either...

Being in QC I already assume you have winter tires, unless you choose to break the law. and FX vs. TL is a total apples to orange comparison. If you like SUVs then FX is a great choice, but if you like sedans why not consider the TL SH-AWD?

My dad just purchased the new Infiniti fx50. (non S model) The car looks ALOT better in person, looks more menacing esp with the large wheels. The large brakes with the logo calipers also add a nice touch. The car is very responsive, the 7 spd gearbox shifts super smooth. this car is seriously fast, esp for an suv/crossover. Interior is top notch. This car is great if you are looking for a large awd. However, trunk space is not so great since its a crossover body style. Although this lack of space may seem pointless, once driving it, all questions go away.

how about something RWD, with 380-450 HP, for less than the price of an FX?

i think the fx50 is a good choice, and if you have the money to afford it, you should have the money to afford the gas for it

I liked the old FX, and l like the new FX as well...But if you're complaining about bad roads, you don't want to be driving something with an overly stiff suspension and big ass wheels...It's just wrong....Or just stop complaining and drive!

I kind of like the FX, its ugly in a manner that its kind of cool looking(like a bulldog). Its your money, if it is not a financial stretch, go get one.
