Thinking 'bout joining the Acura family again.
So, I have been thinking latley that I am spending way too much money on cars and not saving enough to buy another house soon. Right now, I pay a hell of a lot of money for the Vette and the monthly payment hurts-I can afford it, but it is just a big hit when it comes to that time of the month.
Anyways, I dropped by the Acura dealer on Saturday to just say hi to the guys that I know. While there, I noticed a pretty little black CL-S sitting in the back. It is an '03 six speed with navi and onstar-everything I always wanted in the CL-S. Plus, it has a comptech icebox, comptech headers, and a short shifter. The body is clean, with only a few rock chips, and there seems to not be any paint work. The asking price is $26.9K.
So, I began to think. If I could get the car for around $24k certified, I could save about 200 beans a month. I absolutley love the Vette, but 200 beans is 200 beans, and I also love the CL-S.
So, what do y'all think? Keep the Vette or sell the Vette and get the CLS?
Oh yeah, and then my screen name would be right again!

You gotta do what makes YOU happy. If it's a money thing and you're over your head, get out. I made a pretty odd switch just this past weekend, and I don't regret it one bit.
I'm sure most poeple will say keep the Vette... I probably would. But it's your life, your checkbook.

How old is your vette? You should be able to find a CLS for less than $26.9k. If your going to spend that kind of money on a used car, maybe you can you can find a G35 coupe six speed. A co-worker of mine just bought one, its sick how fast it is. Something like 290hp I believe.

And the price on the CLS is just a starting point. My family has bought 5 cars from the dealership in the past year, so we get all of the cars for about their cost, even used ones as we are fortunate enough to know the used car's price
Anyways, I am not a fan of the G35. Plus, to get one the way I would want, with navi and the like, I will be in the lower to mid 30's.

Price seems a little high on the 6spd, depending on mileage... It's certifed, so that does make it more attractive pricewise.
I agree that 200 a month isn't chump change, but a CLS is more of a daily driver, and the vette is a sportscar.

Plus, I haven't driven the Vette in over 3 weeks as I have been out of the country. But, I am picking up a daily beater this week, so I wouldn't drive the Vette as much. Then again, I wouldn't drive the CLS as much. Arghhhh, decisions, decisions.

However, I could probably get the car for $23-24.
Oh, and it has 38k miles.

Just curious but how come? What does the TSX have that the CLS doesnt?
I guess it depends how many miles your cls has...

whats the market value on the vette? you could probably put a few grand in the bank if you sell the vette, plus save that 200 a month, thats alot of money
plus a 6speed CLS is not really that much of a downgrade...well the vette is nice the CLS is pretty nice too

My 6spd only has 35K miles on it. My comment probably had more to do with the sad resale value of the CLS (while the G35c has a terrific resale value) then anything else. I probably won't get rid of the CLS for while... It's paid for, so I might as well drive it for awhile longer. I'm in no hurry to be back into payments anytime soon.
But I am serious about getting rid of the CLS if I could get someone to give me more then it's worth

Get the CLS, or look for one here on the boards (esp. if stock isn't your flavor). The one you're talking about at the dealership is WAAAY too expensive. I bought my 6spd (non-navi) in dallas in early may for 16400 w/ 41k miles, nearly mint condition. You shouldn't pay more than 19k for the one you're looking at. Otherwise, consider flying somewhere to buy one.

I'd just weigh the pros and cons and see which car best suits your lifestyle at this point in time. Regardless, I think that you should still give me a ride in the vette if you were ever to get rid of it

It's only $25995 on the website... you only need to have it discounted another $2495 and you're set.

I wouldnt get the CLS, it will be around 26k after tax. Not worth it imo. I've been out of the CL loop...how's the tranny on the '03's? Did it get resolved? Do you have another car? A beater? Maybe sell the vette and drive the beater for awhile...then I would wait a year or 2 and get a TSX for around 20k our the door.

My post count is low because, unlike you, I don't repeatedly post pics of the cars that I buy to fill some void in my life.
When your nuts finally drop, you should go down to Sterling, talk to Adrian and see what they will actually SELL you the car for.
