Thinking about selling my G for a E92 335i...

Back Story:
I haven't owned my G for a full year yet, and I'm slightly bored with it. I love my G, but I'm regretting I didn't visit the BMW dealership before I made my purchase last year. Anywho, there's no better time than the present, right? I'm seeing 07 and 08 e92 335i for as low as $28K with about mid 30K mileage. So the BMW bug as bit my ass again, and now I'm spending a lot of time researching, and looking up prices. I'm literally avoiding all BMW dealerships until I'm 100% sure. Right now, I'm at 85%, which means it won't be long.

Any Advice, and/or Comments are all welcomed.

If you get bored with your G within your first year of ownership, 335i definitely give you the same feeling next year.

Keep your G.

Mod it a bit maybe? It always helps.

Im assuming you driven a 335i already?

If so and you like it that much better than the G35 then go for it.

@JS + MS3, I'm not into mods. And I won't regret the E92 because it was my first choice, the G being my second.

@Crazy Acura, Sadly I have driven the 335i which only worsened my lust for the car. And thats pretty much my attitude towards my decision, Go For it.

If you read the long as$ 3 series thread, most of the guys at the begining of the thread who bought a 335I, ended up buying an M3, after a year. What does that tell you? The grass is always greener. I own a 335I, and If I owned a G35, I wouldn't even look at my car. Enjoy what you have, and don't get turned into a perpetual car buyer, cus there are much better investments out there.

Also, since your car is an '08, isn't it surpposed to be a G37, not 35? Didn't think they made any '08 G35's?

Dude, before you make the purchase, PLEASE, research about the HPFP issue. It means High Pressure Fuel Pump issue on the N54 engine. Try the bimmerfest.com and e90 post. These websites are littered with horror stories of their fuel pumps failing even during the first year of ownership. This dissuaded me from buying the car.

Good luck

I did actually driven both 335i and G37 in 6MT form. They are both awesome cars.

That's why I wouldn't traded in one year old G37 for used 335i. It's just my opinion obviously.

It depends on the loss on the G35. If you don't have a specific opportunity to get rid of it at a fair cost, forget it. I see too many people with a balloon (money) they owed on a previous ride. That's a bad move. It is better to prepare for the next one in 2 more years.

And in the meanwhile continue to admire those 3-series.

If you can make financial sense out of it (get a good trade in value / not lose much money), then go for it. If it is what you really want, you will only kick yourself later if you don't.

The Infiniti 2008 G coupes were G37's, the 2008 G sedans were G35's. 2009+, they are both G37's now...

I wouldn't want to get anywhere near a used BMW. Too bad they are so expensive new. The G is a great substitute IMO though....

Why not? if it's CPO one?

I personally loved the feeling of 335i much more so than that of G37. I'm just saying if I already have G37, then I wouldn't think of trading it in for 335i.

I'd go with a 335. If that's something you really want, just say FUCK IT and go for it.

you shouldn't have taken your 2nd choice in the first place... if it makes sense to trade then do it
i kept trying to get newer and newer cars thinking it would be better.
now i have an 06 wrx and do not love it at all, everything besides the power/handling sucks... i'm trying to sell it and move on to an older bmw
moral of the story, get what you want most, if it makes financial sense

Life is too dam short. If the 335i is what you originally wanted and you now have the opportunity to do so, go for it.

Be aware of maintenance costs though. If you are okay with maintaining a Bimmer (and are able to pay cash for the 335i), carpe diem.

You only live once. Go for it. Who here ever trades in their car because they need a new car or it makes financial sense? Not me.

However, if you are the type that trades your car in every couple of years (easily bored) then you might want to stop doing that at some point. Whether it is now with the G or later with the 3 Series is your decision. But do stop (if that is the case).

My brother is on his 2nd fuel pump on his 335xi coupe. And this one still is rough at idle. If its under warranty, you don't pay for anything. Wipers, oil changes, anything. Beats shelling out 350 for a B2 service at 25000 miles at Acura. But they give him a 335 loaner when they take it. you have to bitch at Acura for them to do anything for you. ( Don't know about Infiniti) Other than that he loves it. It is a plus that it is one of the prettiest cars on the road, especially with some CSL reps. But that is subjective.

How about you wait like another year or so to pick up a nice CPO E90/E92 M3? I've seen some models with 40k miles selling in the high 30k range, so it only makes sense to wait. That way, you won't get bored with it. And if you do, start some track days.

Isn't there turbo kits for your G35

On the other hand, I can totally understand why you would want the 335i though...its just like your car...except better in every way

Test drive the 335...and if you like it that much more than the G and have the financial means to do it, go for it!

Whatever makes you happy!

Ignorant statement. you obviously missed my earlier thread--> https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...&highlight=G35
and If you want to talk, i've got two neighbours with G's. I'll take pictures of them, and pictures of the oil on their parking spaces, and post it here.

Your previous thread was specific to 2003 G coupes. Not particularly relevant to this thread...

@turkeybaster115 I’ve read every page of the 3-Series thread, yes I’m a big fan of the car. And as far as people going from the 335i to M3, I thought it was common sense for someone, with the funds of course, to upgrade to a better vehicle. Hell, before I bought my G I owned a 2002 Civic, and yes the grass is much greener.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
@cuteguy1414 Yeah man thanks for the heads up, but I’m well aware of the notorious HPFP issue. I’ve been a member of Bimmerpost for quite sometime now, and I frequent the site often. Before I purchase this vehicle, I’ll have it the dealer inspects every nook and cranny so I won’t end up having to move in their service department down the road.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
@Saintor @mrmako that’s my main factor. I consider myself a financially savvy guy so if I’m going to take a big hit; it’s really not worth it in the end. But I’ll be crunching numbers for the next two weeks and usually when I want something this badly, I’ll make it work.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
@majinssjeric I noticed that you recently traded in your 08 G37 for a 2010 G37 so I know you love the G and I don’t blame you it’s a great car. As I love my G as well, but I have my heart set on the 335i.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
@myron @mitch14 @docboy @knightrider Agreed. Life is too short. Carpe Diem.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
@Johnny_b I’ve heard nothing but great things about the BMW Service department. I’ve heard they go the extra step to ensure comfort to their customers. Its something I look forward to. Not that I hate Infiniti’s service, but I do feel like I’m in a rat race when I go in to service my car.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
@nokiaman the thought of a e92 M3 for around high 30K range makes me , this is something I’m willing to consider especially if the numbers don’t work in my favor for the 335i. Thanks bro.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
@Shift_Acura Turbo Kits on the G would be Dope <o:p></o:p>

U will get bored of 335 after a year or so too... that is just human nature...

That is why you lease if you get bored of cars so easily......

Because it does NOT make any sense to finance if you get bored of cars every 2-3 years... u will lose your down payment + higher monthly payment + upside downs

People like us will always have car payments (unless you are rich and always pay cash) because we get bored of cars easily and the newer cars are just too attractive to resist...
