Thinking about Selling A CLS for

hey guys, i love my cl and all, but you know there are certain things about the car, that just sometimes arent good, 1- gas mileage, NO RABBIT take offs, and i got 210 to a 16 gallon tank, thats stupid, thats 40 bux worth of gas.2-ONLY 4 people can sit, 3, 0-60 is ok, but the MAIN reason is, i want a sedan and the gas.

NOW what i want to get is a 2004 WRX what do u guys think? let me have some input.

Insurance is gonna rape you up the ass. That's what sidetracked me from the STi and over to the TSX.

A normal WRX has glass-like transmissions. Might as well buy a WRX, and get Straight Cut PPG Gears for your car.

Oh and don't think the transition from a Honda clutch and a Subaru clutch is gonna be easy.

I've driven a WRX for 2 years, and lets just say I spent the first 4 months gettin' it right.

You are kidding about the gas right?

TL-S here and I get 350mi around town and 400mi+ on road trips. I'm assuming you gun it alot which makes for your horrible mileage, and if you gun it all the time in a WRX the mileage won't be that great either.

My Olds Bravada got 210 to the tank, your doin something wrong.

1. i average 28 mpg of mixed driving.
2. tell the fifth person to fuck off and that you already have enough friends.
3. it's a heavy fwd boat. what they hell do you want?
it sounds like it isn't the car with the problem. it sounds like you need to lose some weight in that right foot.

^^:rof: I dont quite understand about getting the WRX.. Your main reasons were gas and room issue. WRX has bad milage compare to what you have and room issue is still there. Those back seats are joke..

I DID think about the TL or TSX but they are a bit too much and its not as fast. Dont be shit holes dudes, i know when im not gunning it, and i am not gunning it, all this happened after i got a new tranny, i dont know what they did.

Anyways, i dont have a stick CLS but am thinking about switching over to the TLS in 6 spd. BUT AGAIN, i really want AWD, i like my CL alot, enough that i dont think its worth a WRX, but the problem is gas, 210 is really horrible, and i get shell 93 premium, and TRUST ME, i am NOT gunning it.

BTW insurance cannot be worse than my CLS, my insurance agent gave me 8k for a year in my CLS and thats full coverage by a substandard company, ALL state said 9, and then i stopped trying and just got liability STILL 297 a month, i have NO ACCIDENTS NO TICKETS, its cuz im 18, my dad is NOT insured on my car with me cuz he refuses to be. not to mention, when i DID put him on there, it didnt make a difference, because the car is titled under my name.

Anyways, you guys dont thing its worth that car? i mean turbo is really nice i like that to. But i want to be able to look down the road as well

subaru drivers told me they get like 340 to a tank on a 15 gall tank, so that sounds pretty good.

I really like the way an 04 wrx looks, what really comes accross to me, is that the way i used to take turns in my eclipsee (of course i know its an eclipse! and not a CL) i cant do that with the CL, even with new tires and stuff.

So i dont know, i want to be able to handle winter well, in which case, the Acura is doing well, besides the fact i have to drive like im 93. (no offense to whose 93 or around there).

look at a legacy GT. 4 doors, pretty nice inside, all wheel drive, can get in 5 speed, and is pretty damn fast. probably cost more then a wrx but overall nicer, bigger, and more balls.

The WRX and Legacy will not solve your gas guzzling issues.

I get the same or worse gas mileage in my Legacy GT.

edit: I used to drive an 01 CL-p

Can we try to use proper grammar and use periods? My dad's MDX gets better gas mileage than that, and my TSX i've gotten 410 miles out of a full tank. Learn to drive better

Change/clean your air filter, change your oil, check your tire pressure, learn to drive.

I was getting better than 210 when I was supercharged.

Ok, even though the TSX is NOT FAST, im just going to get a TSX or a TL new ones.

BTW im lazy to use proper grammar when i dont need to

but TSX's are an EXTREMELY reasonable price. does it have a CD changer and good sound system as well?

Have you even factored in how much money you gonna lose when you sell/trade in the CLS?

I personally think people are nuts for selling cars just to save on gas. You would lose just that much by selling the car. IMO

My guess is you will beat on the TSX since it lacks power and will still get shitty gas mileage.

I'm not denying the TSX is slow, but during my ownership I averaged 29MPG over 42,000 miles - far from shitty gas mileage... I was elated yesterday I averaged 20.13MPG on my last tank in the G35, I finally got over 20!

I dont think the TSX is that slow either, but i was just assuming he would beat on since hes coming from a CLS. Plus hes 18.

I have always gotten better mileage than my friend with an '03 WRX. Plus in order to get such poor mileage in a CL, you have no hope of getting good mileage in a turbo 4-cylinder.
p.s. I got 450 miles on my last tank. Make sure your car is running right before blaming these efficient Honda engines for user error.

Ok what part of this are you people NOT UNDERSTANDING, i DO NOT GUN MY CAR, I DO NOT RACE MY CAR, I DO NOT DRIVE IT LIKE A MANIAC OR IN ANY WAY LIKE A TYPICA 18 YEAR OLD.

I drive it and my car shifts at 2200 RPM i dont let it go higher than that. I just dont understand why i am getting bad gas mileage, i dont beat on my cars, i had an eclipse, and have a plymouth sundance to do that on. I am selling it, i will buy a TL, i want something BIIIG thats all, i finally saw a WRX from the inside and hate it, bBUT I LOOOVEEE THE TL, im going to get the TL. I am hoping my CL will sell well since i just got a BRAND NEW TRANNY. and its NOT BEAT ON, the car is in excellent condition, i only put like 10k on it. thats it.

Anyways, i can see that most of you have problems understanding that not every person whose 18 beats on their car, i bought my CL and now am still happy with it, just not with the mileage and plan on selling it because i like the TL better. Should have bought one in the first place but i didnt.

Anyways, it is pointless to talk here, because all of you can ONLY think that im battering the gas pedal. so i guess i wont post anymore in this thread cuz it seems to be only going one way.

You realize the TL has the same motor and transmission as the CL correct? Your gas mileage shouldn't be any different.

If you are not 'mashing' on the pedal.. The only explanation is.......

SOMEONE IS STEALING YOUR GAS!!!

The CL and TL are basically the same. Engine, tranny, etc... very similar. And if you're getting a 2001-2003 TL then it's pretty much the EXACT same as your car... just with 4 doors. So it makes no sense to do this.

But, yeah, the interior of the WRX is kind of blah. My friend has one and it's hot from the outside, but not much to write home about inside. Then again, you don't buy a WRX for the luxury interior. Oh and yeah, he gets horrible gas mileage compared to the Acura. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 23 mpg, and that's mostly highway. When it's mixed he's around or under 20mpg. My TLS was typically 4-6mpg better then him in either driving scenario.

Lastly, I know you keep saying you don't drive crazy... and I'm not saying you do... but something isn't adding up. There were times when I'd just flat out fly with my car... I'm talking WOT from lights, downshifting with sportshift to pass cars left and right, etc... and even then I never got anywhere near 210 miles on a tank.

So either you're lying for some reason, or something is wrong with your car. So if you're really not beating on the car... take it in for service.

The amount of money that will be lost on trading in a CLS, then spent on something else will completely negate any gas savings. Even if it costs him $2k (which it won't... it will cost much more) to get out of the CLS and into something else it would take years to recoup that money in gas savings. Say you save $10/mo in gas (which is a lot) over the CLS in whatever car he buys. It would take 200 months, or 16.67 years to make up the $2,000. And that's using very conservative numbers.

So yeah, I gotta agree with Crazy here... selling a car to buy another car to save gas money makes ZERO sense...

.

Doesn't really matter whether you gun it or not, mainly what these people are trying to say that your driving habits may not be fuel-friendly.

Don't get me wrong. At your age having a WRX is fun, and I can vouch for that, after driving one for two years, but one, you're NOT gonna get better gas mileage, two the interior is cheap is hell, and if you want AWD, you're gonna end up with lower gas mileage anyway.

My transition from a WRX to a TSX, oh my god I don't know why I didn't get one in the first place.

Most of the time when I hear about extremely low or high gas mileage estimates, I figure the poster doesn't know how to calcualate gas mileage...

I get 22/23mpg and I've got a terrible lead foot... Jackrabbit starts, 80mph on the highway, vtec alot, etc...

280-300 per 12-14 gallons...

Something is seriously wrong here... My Step-dad gets 13mpg with his Chevy 2500 extracab pickup...

Ahh... here it is...

https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...2&postcount=14

Adjust the numbers to calculate the savings... the RSX is just an example...

But I personally won't buy a RSX just to save a couple hundred bucks a year...

OK so my tank is done this time, at 243, still isnt that great, but i REALLY REALLY am considering the TSX my primary thing is, i need a car i can be with even after i have a family which will be soon, and my parents can get in and out easily as well as be safe. TSX 0-60 @ 7.5 thats slow.

I was hoping for the TL but the 04 TL doesnt have a tranny recall on it.

Anyways, sure something isnt adding up, i have a remote starter... thats all. But this time NO REMOTE STARTS, i got 243.

So its not much of a difference, theres nothing wrong with my car, i already took it for servicing.
they said its fine.

I put the fuel cleaner Acura gave me too!
and its still the same.

I dont know, TSX is probably the SMARTEST thing to do, but i dont know if it will feel the same as a TL ya know. so save up for my TL or TSX? any help?

Yeah I don't see how you only got 210miles on a fill up. You must do nothing but city driving, your CL-S might need maintenance, oil change, tune-up etc...
