Thinking about a new car....

Ok, so in the next six months I'm thinking about trading in the Kia (I know I know.....terrible) for a sport sedan.

But not just any, oh no.

I've narrowed it down to a 2006 E55 AMG or a 2008 CTS-V.

I've driven both, and LOVE them both. I love the luxury and power combo of the benz, but the pure driver in me likes the CTS-V more. And I can't freaking decide.

So I've decided to let AZ have some input - any thoughts?

Personally, I know the E55 probably has better materials or whatever, but the design of MB interiors are such a turn-off for me. They look boring, IMO. That and I have a humongous hard-on for the CTS-V...

Wish I had such a decision to make. The CTS-V would be a great ride, however I think the E55 is the way to go here, because you definitely get your cake and eat it too and by no means is the AMG slow. The CTS-V is more comparable to a C63 IMO that is, and how many chances in your lifetime will you get to own an AMG branded vehicle. That being said, we all know Neuronbob loves his V so i'm sure you'll be happy with your choice either way.

There is no 08 CTS-V. If you meant the the old one with the LS2, the 06 E55 looks much better inside and out. Wouldn't even think twice.

Unless you really want a manual

oops, forgot. If you're talking about the supercharged 2009+ CTS-V then hands down the Caddy. If you're talking about the old one with the LS6/LS2, then E55 for sure.

I'm guessing the E55 is going to be around $35-40k.

That definitely takes the 2009 CTS-V out of the equation.

Which one fits your ass better. No matter how much fun you'll have in it, if you're not ass comfortable, it's not good.

HAHA - Thanks guys - yeah, I meant the 09 CTS-V.

I'm a big guy, and surprisingly each fits my wide ass fairly well. I was comfortable on long tests of both cars.

Well, at least I have a few months before making the decision. Thanks for the input everyone

The AMG is actually only $28K - it's a personal sale, the guy is in no hurry to sell, and I know for a fact it's been baby'd

How much is a 2009 CTS-V? I would guess around $50k?

If it were me, I'd get the E55. Drive that for a couple of years and then sell it and get something else ... At that point you might be able to get something better than the CTS-V.

I think that's how I'm leaning at the moment.....I just can't see how I spend almost twice as much for the more powerful vehicle, when it's likely I'll get to use that power only a few times a year....

Yeah, I'd go CTS-V as well but you aren't going to find many under $50k...

That, unfortunately, has to be a consideration. And I think the Mercedes gives off a better professional aura than the Caddy.

The other thing, is that price will matter on this one. I'm planning on getting engaged in March, which also means paying for a wedding sometime in 2012....

Feck me.

with your new business card, i'm sure you'll get more clients which in turn pays for all your toys and the wedding.

I hope you picked the right design for your business card.

I would disagree here. Driving a big benz makes your clients remember how much they are paying you. Regardless of which one really costs more, the general public would think the Benz cost more.

AMG E- for the money and smaller exterior size.

The E is the mid-size MB.

If OP Jared's clients are bankruptcy clients, even driving an S-Class probably won't be an issue.

If you're considering 09+ V, why not look at the 63? I would go with the V, as much as I heart the E55 AMG and know it's been babied, the maintenance could Be potentially significant.

Wait till after the wedding and honeymoon. I blew through money for at least 2 months after the wedding.
