I have a friend that owns a 01 M5 supercharged. It makes around 520whp and 430wtq. He just went to the 1/4 mile two weeks ago when I went and he ran 12.20's@118 on a very hot and humid day. I say go for it they are nice cars. Just be prepared for maintenance costs lol.

I say go for it, the E39 M5 is a great overall car. Maintenance cost's are an obvious.

But I also think you should test drive an E46 M3 before proceeding into purchasing the M5.
