Hankook Evo V12 K110 Tires

Anyone had experience with these tires?

I just replaced my rear tires with these and it is kinda scary to drive my car now.

I got an alignment done because my toe was was off which killed my previous set.

Now the rear is -1.4 camber and 0.16 Toe Left and 0.16 Right toe, which is within factory spec.

But the problem i have with these tires is it is scary!!! the car will move from side to side and it feels like it is gonna spin out at any sec and this usually happens at 60mph+

Break in period? i have had many different sets of tires in my life and i had never experience anything like these tires. Anyone else had these tires before?

Does it happen on all road surfaces?

Check all the bushings. Something sounds loose/worn.

I've run those tires and loved every mile put on them. There was no tramlining or any other oddities.

it is not the road surface. It is anything on the freeway which is 60mph+

i would have suspected something was loose but it was there the moment i got new tires and it wasnt there before.

apparently it only affect RWD cars according to the tire place where i got tires from.

Oh crap. I just got these delivered yesterday. I'm planning on mounting them in the next couple of weeks.

They had good reviews... I have AWD so hopefully I won't have that problem.

The CTS-V guys swear by them. No one reports the same issues you do. The V guys who have them indicate that they are 90% of the stock PS2s (and the PS2s are the best stock tire I have personally experienced, on any car) at half the cost. I just pulled the trigger on a set for my V.

I suspect you got a bad set, there is a bad match with the dissimilar fronts, or your alignment was screwed up or off by the aligner.

What PSI you running. In my experience I had 3 sets of them & seem to like 35PSI cold. Which results in about 38PSI when they are hot.

If they can handle all 400WHP of my big heavy car they certainly can handle most any car.

If you just got them, you need to put about 500 miles on them. This will wear the tread a little & remove any residual oils from the rubber during manufacturer.

Could be some sort of bushing worn on your car too. Like sways bar bushings.

Had them, and they are great sticky tires. A little soft sidewall but way better than most tires out there. It's not the tire. Either they screwed up your alignment or you have other issues.

I know if the wheels aren't balanced right it can cause vibration, but I've never heard of that causing what you're experiencing, but might be worth a trip back to the shop that put them on for a rebalance just to see. Everything I've read on the tires seems positive. It was a hard decision for me to take the Continental ExtremeContact DWSs over the Hankooks, they were a very close second.

I have them on my F and I love them so far and have not been able to break them loose. They seem to like a higher PSI though from my experience. They seem squishy at the stock 36 so I run them at 40psi and they seem great so maybe try and increased psi then.

X2. And ask for a Road Force Balance and not the normal one. My TL-S was very sensitive to the way the tires were balanced.

I had them re-did the alignment and balancing. Everything was fine.

The side wall is definitely soft. These are great tires as far as noise and stickiness.

Well I can tell you it's not the tires causing your issue.

Soft side wall? What size did you get? Ive had tires with soft side walls. These do not have soft sidewalls. Conti DWS' and DWs have soft sidewalls.

Ive run 235/40s.

EDIT - Also what PSI are you running? I usually set mine around 38psi cold, which would explain why I dont really feel a soft sidewall.

I have them now (have had them for a little over 1 year) and think they're great tires. Nice and sticky. I've pushed them and have never experienced this side-to-side, about to spin out at any sec problem you have.

Yes, I too find these a bit on the softer side so I run about 38-39 psi in them.

i think they are awesome "performance" tires for the price point. my s2000 came with zeix 512s which were balls.

the v12s are great in the rain for me and very predictive in moderate-high speed turns. they are not squirrelly at all. i have ~15k miles on them with plenty of tread left too.

I have owned the DW too and those do not have soft side walls and one of the best handling tires.

I have them on the 550 and they are awesome. Super quiet, sticky, but very soft. I'm only expecting about 10K miles out of the rear due to camber, but that's expected with these BMWs. Can't beat 'em for the price!

Alignment issues can cause the back end to sway back and fourth on the freeway.
hope you got this fixed.

Ive personally experienced the DWS' (all seasons), but not the summer variant. Ive read all over the place that the DWs are just as soft as the DWS' though

The Contis have great bang-for-buck value though.

DWS are All Season tires. Not Ultra Performance Tires like the DW. They are not even comparable.

The DW's actually beat the PS2's in some tests not all.

I bought these after reading good reviews (2nd place in a comparo with 8 other sets of tires in C/D) and I have been using them on my car for about 2-3 years now as my summer setup (April -Oct).

They are really good, no complaint. They provide a lot of grip in the dry and also perform well when it's raining. I really have to try hard to make these tires screech when cornering in the dry. They are reasonably quiet and comfortable. Not sure about now, but 2-3 years ago, these tires gotta be one of the best sets for the price.

it was at 40 from the tire mounting place, i lowered it 38ish.

V12 sidewall are soft. If you have a stiff car like s2000, you will definitely notice a lot more bodyroll.

Update:

The tires are getting better after about 200 miles, i still do not have the confidence to push the car in straight or corner but the stability has improved.

OP you have a lot of toe. Is it really necessary?

V12s are good street tires. not good for autocross tho.

It varies with your driving & car. 280 rating I think. But that may mean 20K miles or 25K miles or 15K miles....
I average about 22K miles on the 3 sets on my CLS. Have only 6K miles on my srt8 & my moms mustang only lasted 17K miles but she never rotated them & trashed the tires.

The DW's do not have softside walls. I had them and loved them they are great tires. Wish I could have gotten them again had they not stopped making my sizes.

Might not be good for autocross but a lot of E92 M3 guys rave about them for track days.

S2k factory toe range is from 0.06 - 0.22. So i think 0.16 is not that bad.
