Thinkin' about pulling the trigger on a S8

I've been thinking about getting a used one for a while (03-04). Thought I was gonna keep the CL but thinking I may give that to my niece in a year. What do you guys think of the S8? I want AWD and a large, comfortable, luxurious car so that narrows the choices considerably (S430 4matic?)

If you want a large AWD, comfortable and luxorious, the S8 is perfect. Those cars are a rare site and has lovely reviews.

While you're at it, how about a used Phaeton?

^^^^ there is a BIG price difference between a used S8 and a used RS6. Even bigger with a new S8. The latter is a bit obvious, I realize.

You can pick up beautiful used S8's for around 45K 2 y.o. fully loaded and w/ a 100K warranty intact. I love these freakin' cars, always have. I looked at an RS6 but a used one was still 75K and that's too much. I'm still thinkin' about this one, probably be a while though (spring?)

My dad had an 02 A8L and it was an amazing car. He test drove an S8 and it was even better. More powerful and less body roll.

The old S8 is surprisingly not that large inside. Audi's are also not necessarily as reliable as you may expect them to be. Personally I'd rather go for a new AWD 300C.

If you do get an S8 make sure it wasn't in an accident. The unibody and subframe use a lot of aluminum and few autobody shops are qualified to work with it.

I'm going to keep watching these cars--depending on how well I do over the next few months income-wise, I'll make a decision. I was intent on keeping the CL but it just has run its course w/ me.

i love everything else about the car, exterior, performance etc...but the interior doesnt look as nice as the new ones...thats probably because im not a big fan of the wood paneling.
