My inspection sticker is expired, last year they didnt inspect tint, this year they are. :ghey: and I have 20 percent, and the limit is it must be 35 or higher here in tx. Well i went today offered the mexican 100 bucks and he still wouldnt pass me. so i was thinking, if i roll the windows down, yank out the fuses, and say they dont work or some BS excuse at a diff shop will it work?

or should I just bite the bullet and strip the tint?

Take the tint off.

It never ceases to amaze me how some people know they are breaking the law with tint and then wonder why they won't pass inspection or get tickets.

 

Just roll the windows down as you pull up.. If they ask you to roll the windows up then do it.. Worth a shot IMO

 

yeah, keep wasting time trying to pass with the tint violation, to later realize that you will need to replace the tint for a legal one....
You offered $100 to pass, when you can get a new tint job for $150? come on!! Make the tint legal or take it down, get the car inspected, and then go and put up your illegal tint...it should be fun when you get pulled over and they test the tint....

Last week I went to get my car inspected. Went to a shady shop since it was Sunday and my regular place was closed. drove up to the shop with the windows down, the guy checked everything (signals, lights, horn, etc) then popped the hood and looked at the intake. Said he couldn't pass me because of "aftermarket parts" telling me my intake was illegal. I simply let him know that he was an idiot and left. Went to my regular shop the next day and got things taken care of in like 5 mins in and out....

guess ill re-tint it with 35... i just liked the way it looks with 20.

OP, you dont know anybody that would pass your car with the tint on? ask some of your co-workers or somebody with tint on their car where they have gone to get their cars inspected... good luck

 

Move to a State that allows 20

 

Buy 2 used windows and keep them in your garage for every time you have to pass inspection

the tint shop i go to... charges about 80 bucks to take the tint off and re-tint... that's cheaper than your bribe.

Stripped windows, got it inspected, going to get windows tinted w/ 35% today. still 20 in the back, just the front will be a tad lighter. but legal.

And, in some states to give up his license and therefore that entire segment of his business.

 

At least he can tint his front windows. Here, you can't legally tint the fronts. People have them, but do the shade tree inspection thing.

Better to comply with the law. And 30% will look alright.
