Test drive cars

I know when you go to a dealer to test drive a car, they make a photocopy of your license.

When I went to test drive a 330i, they made a copy of my license and also told me to sign a piece of paper stating that I will obey all traffice laws...etc.

Has this ever happen to anyone else before?

I've had the drivers license copied, but never had to sign anything.

I've only ever had to sign something if they let me take the car out by myself. Otherwise, if the salesman is with me, I have never had to sign anything.

No its not. Certain laws if broken are charged to the owner of the vehicle, no matter who was driving. Its just a way to cover their ass as they probably had do something stupid and get caught and they wound up footing the bill.

Yea, I got it. But then that would be signing something that reassigns the blame of the law being broken, not something that says your not gonna break it. Catch the difference?

Its a semantics argument
