it's nice, though the image of this car has been completely ruined for me since they're EVERYWHERE in the bay area in california and are usually driven by high brow snobs haha
it's crazy how much the company's grown though - they now sell more teslas in California than Porsche, Jaguar, Lincoln, or Buick.

you can buy an extra battery pack for the car.
instead of the battery being a big solid mass in the trunk or engine compartment, they use a flat battery that goes underneath the floorboard of the car. the extra width of the battery could make it seem more low.
or if the car was in motion, you'd have a natural camber or squat going on.

they are really nice cars and always look lowered due to the big wheels and the low battery profile. we see a TON of these down in San Diego, they even have a car showroom in our local mall haha. price tag is pretty good for what it is, but yea these cars have flooded california and mostly are older people...i've only seen one driven by a person younger than 35

I like Tesla. The one drawback is the fact that when you want to recharge, it'll take more time than filling up at the pump (20 minutes to supercharge the battery to half full).
I don't know if it was a rumor but I read somewhere that there were going to be small cafes owned by Tesla for the owners to sit and wait while their cars charge while on the road. I could be wrong though.

Personally I think the sexiest part of the car can't even be seen from the outside.
For real? That shit's bananas...

I felt the same was as OP when I first saw one a while back. There's a guy I work with who has one who parks near me so I see it almost every day. Good guy, can understand why he got one. However, for me, the thrill is gone. I see them and don't look twice anymore. Can't say the same for a TL Type S, however ; )

So nobody mentioned that they're fast? The performance one I believe is 4.2 seconds to 60? Green and mean, I'd love to own one but unless I had more disposable money there'd be no cost savings over filling up. I've only seen 1 on the road by me. I can't get behind the slow eco cars since I'm a gearhead, I'm all for new tech if it's fast/fun to drive.

There are 3 variants:
60kwh battery: 0-60 in 5.9 seconds (still fast): included in base price - range is 208 miles
85kwh battery: 0-60 in 5.4 seconds: +$10,000 (add to base price) - range is 265 miles
85kwh Performance battery: 0-60 in 4.2 seconds: +$20,000 (add to base price) - range is 265 miles

I think the car is amazing, I've been looking at it for a long time on their webpage while it was being developed when they were only taking pre-orders.
I can't afford one but it'd be nice.
From a performance perspective these are amazing cars too.
If you didn't know the electric motors provide instant torque. Completely different from the internal combustion engine that has to build power. And they're over 90% efficient with their power consumption. I.E. over 90% of the energy consumed is used to propel the car forward, whereas in internal combustion engines you'd be lucky to have about a 30% efficiency car.
If you check Tesla's site it looks like they're developing a crazy SUV type thing next. And from some interviews that Elon Musk provided after the Model S had a near perfect Consumer's Reports test and crash test part of their model is to eventually develop a less expensive all-electric car.
I think they went about it the right way from a business perspective, targeting high-end consumer's first while they didn't have that much production capital or business infrastructure and eventually try to reach more and more of the population.
They also have the 2-seater car thats like a quarter million. They've also posted a profit - a first for an all-electric car maker, while Fisker filed for bankruptcy.
Their stocks soared recently also, I've been following Tesla for a long time now and I think they're really pioneering the way for the future of the automobile.

I was just wondering the other day about when they are going to start introducing a 720 or 1080p resolution navigation screens because the back-up camera function would be awesome especially at night, but than I saw that video and it said this car has the first 1080P rear-view camera on a 17 inch SCREEN!. Wow.... My laptop monitor is only 15.4 inches lol
That means in a few years cars will start having a 720/1080 navigation screen!

I just saw one at Fast Fridays tonight. It's crazy when the trunk and the hood are both open and you don't see an engine.

They're pretty common in the Seattle area. Everyone I have seen usually have older ladies driving them....go figure. It's cool also that the ONLY buttons or knobs that's in the car is the two that's on the steering wheel and the buttons for the windows, everything else is controlled through the touchscreen.
