They did say he fell asleep. But if you're really tired and a lockup happens, it would be very bad indeed.

My former 4Runner's steering broke one winter when I was half asleep driving home. That shit jolted me to my senses. Another time I ended up on the median as I was half asleep. Never again will I drive tired.

As for Honda even if it was a tranny (my guess based on whats has been said it is unlikely), a smart plaintiff's attorney and a smart defense attorney would keep things very quiet, the value of such a case is in the discretion, a personal injury attorney that runs to file on this should be disbarred, he/she only wants attention not what is best for the client, unless of course the client WANTS to scream it from the rooftops and understand it likely reduces the chances and value of any settlement. Unfortunately the children would not be evaluated as high as the father since his loss of income could be substantial. The value in a case like this would be in the non-disclosure clause. The cruel reality of this type of law is a seriously injured victim is often "worth" more than a dead one, the cruel saying is "Vegetables are worth more than meat". Even worse, in my eyes, is that it is almost always cheaper to cause a childs death than an adults. Even not thinking from an attorneys point of view, I hope there is some outside cause for this accident, not so the family can get money but so the father has a chance at getting some peace.

2. falling asleep at the wheel is a scary thing. its happened to me a few times. ive learned that the best thing to do is to simply call someone and talk to them. i always call my girlfriend and she usually starts arguing with me so it wakes me up. ive tried various things like playing music loud, yelling at the top of my lungs, nothing works. its a scary deal, its almost always happened on every one of my road trips
3. rip to the kids, and that guys balls once his wife gets ahold of them.
