Just came across this regarding episode 1.
Got episode 2 saved for later.
Kinda sad that he felt the need to go on Twitter to defend the show. If the show's good, that should have been unnecessary. Let the show speak for itself and ignore the hatters.

Well, i thought it was boring. The only parts i felt i kinda wanted to watch was Matt Leblanc's scenes. I think they are going to overboard with lets make the show funny by cheating parts.

If you watch the Top Gear Seasons 1-5...they were really boring. It wasn’t till around season 6-7 when it started to get entertaining. They need to get rid of Evans for sure.

Overall, I thought this episode was an improvement from the first. My observations:
- Chris Evans, still trying too hard, but it seemed like it was toned down a bit.
- ExtraGear isn't very good without Chris Harris.
- Eddie Jordan adds absolutely nothing. Bye, Eddie!
- Matt LeBlanc telling Eddie Jordan he couldn't drive anymore on their trip - awkward.
- Matt LeBlanc continues to be the best host on the show. Indeed, IMO, he may be the 4th best host the show has ever had (after Clarkson, Hammond, and May, of course).
- Chris Evans getting weepy over the McLaren F1 was a little...odd.
- The "competition" among celebrities as part of the "rally car" drive thing is strained and doesn't work. Stop it.
- Change back the course for the celebrity in a reasonably priced car segment.

Also with such an impressive car like the 675LT, they should have done a drag race with the F1 and some "testings" to really milk that thing.
The introduction of the F1 and the review of the 675 LT seem really to be disconnected.

That's why I'm going to give this new version a chance for at least 2 (maybe 3?) seasons. I did the same for Top Gear USA and they eventually found what works for them, and now it's fun to watch.

If you want to talk about boring, many were tired after the last 2-3 seasons because everything felt forced & scripted after everything they had done for the last decade. They gotten away from a lot of the really fan favorite challenges.

I think their age is one of the major factors, they just can't do some of the things that they used to do.
When I watch the BBC Monday night marathon back to back between the newer episodes and the older ones, JC has gotten so old.

They might need a solid 3rd person in the line-up to start instead of seemingly rotating between Gordon, Harris, Reid, & Sabine.

Ep 3 was about as entertaining as last weeks. SIARC segment still blows. Rory Reid's Ford Focus RS vs Honda Civic Type R vs Mercedes A45 AMG segment was . Couldn't wait for it to end. Might have to ditch him along with Evans.

I enjoyed the episode.
Ken Block hooning in London
Chris Harris in a F12 TDF
Sabine making Chris Evans vomit.....I guess this is going to be a recurring theme in this iteration of Top Gear with Sabine driving, similar to James May and his "love" for the Dacia Sandera. Just let the woman drive, dammit! She's awesome.
I agree that the hot hatch segment was a bit slow, but let's give Rory a chance to spice it up a little the next time.
All in all, a good use of 90 minutes on BBCA while I was simultaneously watching the Cavs not get eliminated.

Chris Evans to take less prominent Top Gear role after audience dives
Chris Evans to take less prominent Top Gear role after audience dives
13 June 2016
Chris Evans is to take a less prominent role at the helm of Top Gear, after viewing figures for the newly revamped motoring show slumped to a new low.
The third episode of Top Gear, the first to feature motoring journalists Rory Reid and Chris Harris, received positive reviews, but was watched by a live audience of just 2.37 million viewers, down nearly half a million on the previous week.
The programme, which recorded the second-lowest audience figures since Jeremy Clarkson revived the motoring show, in 2002, received plaudits from viewers for the performances of Reid and Harris, who usually host the online spin-off show, Extra Gear.
While Evans and Matt LeBlanc will continue to anchor the studio recording, it is understood that prerecorded material featuring both of the lesser known presenters will feature more prominently in the rest of the series. Reid wrote on Twitter yesterday: “We are on the main show every Sunday now.”
The new incarnation of Top Gear has experienced a rough ride under Evans’s stewardship, despite its opening episode recording a solid audience of 6.4 million viewers, including catch-up viewing.
Audience appreciation figures leaked to The Telegraph showed that Evans’s debut episode was rated by viewers as the worst quality show on terrestrial television on the weekend that it aired, with an appreciation index (AI) score of just 60 out of 100, compared to an average of around 82 for a BBC Two programme.
The second episode is understood to have received a similarly low AI score of 68, and recorded a live audience of 2.8 million, which yesterday had improved to 4.1 million, including catch-up viewing.
The audience for Sunday’s third episode will rise from 2.37 million, once catch-up viewing is taken into account, but Top Gear has only recorded lower overnight figures on one occasion during the Clarkson era. An episode that aired in June 2003 was watched live by 2.36 million viewers, just 9,000 fewer than this week’s programme.
Figures from overnights.tv, the ratings agency, showed that the motoring programme lost 175,000 viewers between the ages of 25 and 34, compared to the previous week.
BBC executives are resigned to the fact that the motoring show’s audience is unlikely to improve over the three remaining episodes in the series.

Personally, just skim it to LeBlanc, Reid, & Harris. Eddie Griffin wasn't exactly "WOW" in his first episode, and as much as I respect Sabine as an incredible driver, her presence so far has been closer to the Stig's than the rest.
#5223
Nowhere near as good as the original trio, and will never be. I understand that. But too much forced humor from Evans that just isn't funny.
I watched the original series because of the hosts & the cars. If I decide to keep watching this new series it will be solely because of the cars, the hosts are zzz.

And, I think I had a Clarkson-style "crisis" during the segment on the Vulcan. That SOUND!!!!!

Honestly, after watching the Vulcan episode, I can live with Top Gear the way it is. I echo a lot of the sentiments here, however. I feel that LeBlanc, Harris, and Schmitz could have their own show without the rest.

Rory Reid did good this time with the Tesla Model X segment. Much better than the Focus RS vs Civic R vs A45 AMG one.
Eddie Jordan hasn't improved. He's still boring.
Nice to hear Sabine say a few more words. She needs to loosen up a bit still.
Evans not as annoying anymore. Probably because he is getting less camera time and isn't yelling as much.
The SIARPC segment used to be about 7-8 minutes. Now they're wasting 25% of the show's time (15-17 minutes) to do the SIARC segment. That time would be better spent on the cars or showing more of the challenges. I skip over the SIARC segment now.
They would pan the camera from Clarkson to the banner and you'd see/hear the audience clap, but I don't ever recall where the hosts and the whole audience would yell "The Stig" and point to the banner at the same time. I agree with oonowindoo, it's dumb.

Ah. Haven't been paying that much attention, but yeah, that's pretty silly. Was too busy annoyed that the theme song plays when the guests for the night come out.

I read elsewhere that it's slated to start in September.

Episode 4 was boring. The challenge was boring, the intermediate challenge was boring, nothing went wrong and it wasn't ridiculous at all. Eddie Jordan needs to go (boring as fuck), Evans needs to go (annoying as fuck), and Sabine should be a very limited appearance (doesn't really talk but is a great driver). Keep LeBlanc, Harris, and Reid and leave it at that. They seem to have more chemistry, charisma, and genuine love for cars than any of the others.
Oh and bring back the news? WTF happened to that?
