Piss off is an understatement. Might as well take the opportunity to touch up some other spots that were bugging me paint wise. We'll see how it plays out, just dont want some shit paint work.

I try and avoid repainting unless absolutely necessary for this exact reason. I'd rather minimize and touch up a small scratch as much as possible if it avoids half that panel being blended. It's hard to find a good painter and even hard trying to get a poor job redone.

Well the ball is officially in motion. Got a couple quotes yesterday & sent it off it. Had a response back pretty quickly & the car could be going in the next few weeks. We'll see how it plays out as usual. Quote wasn't the worst, $1600 (cdn) to get the bumper back to normal/paint/blending onto the 1/4 panel. Shop was recommended through some guys from work & they mainly work on high end vehicles so hopefully that helps ().

Also, finally reached out to Justin White about my displeasure & some sort of reimbursement since I was over it. He mentioned he has a no refund policy (expected) & that he had no idea there was an issue with the car plus it's not finished since I haven't booked a tuning slot which would "guarantee" a revision. Funny thing is that I've booked more than a few slots over the past 4 months & was left hanging. The whole thing is a joke, he had no idea i was having issues even though I responded back to his email letting him know specifically what I was concerned about multiple times. BS aside, he still wants to make it right & finish the car but I have no interest in dragging this on any longer then it has been. /Rant

In lighter news, some hero on a bike attempted to not let me merge on the way home the other day... keyword attempted

Brutal luck! I can't bring myself to do any car wash other than my own any more. Hopefully those cross country rock chips are now fixed on their dime!

I'd love for a full repaint, she is definitely a drivers car..

There's some slight damage from the previous owner on the rear bumper so at least that will be taken care off.

Sometimes thing are lost in time or translation via email/text and I'm super guilty of making judgments on how other's respond based on my expectations.
I'd give him another chance and only contact via phone or whatever is most direct for him. No refund is fine but tell him you want his full attention until your car is trouble free.
He doesn't want to give up cash but you also paid for something and you're not going to walk away until you get what you were promised FOR that money. Get him to agree
to a partial refund IF he can't meet expectations of not troubles. This isn't breaking new ground.

Super difficult to tell a small portion of the paint was blended vs a whole section
I have a dude here locally that does magic. You should find a bumper specialist in that regard, if possible.

I still am tempted to just finish it off with him to get my money's worth. He definitely knows what he's doing & has a track record to prove it but at the end of the day, I can't stand having my time wasted, especially with how reasonable I've been throughout the whole process. I've also been going pretty consistent with tuning it myself & it's progressing nicely considering I started from a stock base file a few weeks back. Actually starting to enjoy the car more that I know every corner of the tune.

As for the paint, they mentioned that the scratches on the 1/4 would be touched up with a small section of paint & the whole 1/4 (bumper -> A - pillar) would be blended with some fresh clear. I'm lowkey excited..

Well hopefully now that the tuner knows you're not very satisfied you'll have something in your hands sooner than later. Like Rockstar said, sometimes people just need a heads-up or something. I think it's good you're giving the tuner a little more time to see what materializes now that he has an idea of what should be expected (not that long lead times are acceptable).

I'm not holding my breath. I need to book a tuning slot to receive a revision of the current tune. If for some reason I can't get the car dialed in myself then I'd possibly reach out but at the rate I'm going logging/making adjustments everyday, I don't see it happening.

Learning to tune is a skill that that will pay itself off in the long run. Not like I'm gonna stop modding cars any time soon..

I would love to thrash those roads...
well if he's talking about satisfying you ()
then wouldn't you get first choice at whatever timeslot you want ASAP when you want it?
Fuck it, if you do learn for yourself then you can sell mediocre customer service and tunes
and withhold refunds in the future too!

Finally got around to exploring some back roads yesterday. I should have moved out here a long time ago. Solid 3 hour round trip with twisty back roads, long straights, winding inclines/declines & an unimpressed wife, something about ripping corners at double the posted speed limit. All I could say was.. "wait for the sways to go on" ..

Not sure how it is in CAN, but the 'advisory' speed posted on curves, a fun game to double them, and usually still within the true posted speed limit.
Have seen a few that I've been able to triple, but those are rare, and usually something like 30 around a posted 10mph advisory speed.

Filled up before I started & surprisingly enough, still had about a 1/4 left. Best mileage I've had in a while..

That's the exact game I played. The lower the speed, the faster I go..

The V is finally back from paint & it was a painful week in a loaner car but I survived. Loaner was a 2019 A4 which was a nice change of scenery but as nice as it was, it just got boring fast, car just had no soul. The V continues to ruin other cars for me..

Paint work itself looks great & they did a great job blending, barely noticeable that anything was done. Aside from the paint work, I noticed some nice swirls on the freshly painted areas with some compound residue left over. Not sure who cleared the car for delivery but they clearly dont give a fuck.. ..I was tempted to go back to have them correct it but considering they let it leave like that, I don't want to deal with them "fixing" it, I can definitely clean it up pretty easily myself.

With the V back in mix, it was back to dialing in the tune. Been noticing some issues with the car breaking up in certain conditions & with the recommendation from GP Tuning, I swapped in fresh plugs that I gapped to .030 for my boost level (14psi). I initially ran my plugs as is out of the box (.037ish) since I didn't want to deal with gapping iridium plugs (TR7IX) but I bit the bullet & the car seems to have throughly enjoyed it.

Went away this weekend for mini road trip & in boost, she just woke up, should have done this months ago.. ..Still not as perfect as I want & it's a daily battle but I'll take the W for now & keep the ball moving.

May have picked something up for the cruise home but that's a thread for another day...

And man, to have the Rockies so easily accessible as your car's playground is priceless. Very envious of that.

Wait, you picked up a Q7? It's gorgeous...
and yeah, there's something lost in the newer cars...no soul, as you said.
I sometimes miss the "raw" feeling of big V8 Murica muscle...but then again
a stage 2 S4 is a bit different than a stock A4. When I actually put it in manual
mode and enjoy the technology I can't lie, it does blow me away how well the car
behaves no matter how hard I push. That was something I can't say about the V...
if you bite, it bites back. I'm lucky it was always into grass

Talk about going MIA, I haven't updated this in over a year, yikes..

Since the acquisition of the Q7 the V has faded from being the work horse & my wallet definitely noticed not visiting the gas station every few days. As great as that is, it really makes me appreciate how much I love the V.

This was the first winter where she was actually parked for an extended time during my ownership (except the teardown) & man, it sucked lol. The RL is still 3rd in the rotation so it only makes sense that winter is her time to shine. Fuck is it slow though..

Finally got around to hacking away at the to do list & managed to pretty much get everything done before winter hit (read: no garage). Here's a quick breakdown:

- Front/rear sway install
- Upper/lower control arm install
- New header gaskets w/ locking bolts (stock bolts were backing out)

Onto the pics..

As you can see the front install was a bit of a yard sale but wasn't as bad as I thought it would be considering the subframe had to be dropped. Neighbors thought I was a nut case, probably didn't help that I did it on the street..

The sways are set to the middle setting & the addition of the control arms with the Creative Steel race bushings just transformed this boat into a weapon. Of course it's noticeably firmer & felt that way at first but after the first few rides, it's barely an after thought.

With that out of the way, my main focus was back to the driveability/tune issues. I hacked away at it for a bit but after a while I gave in and found yet...another tuner ( .. .. ). If you've been paying attention, that is 3 tuners in just over one year...

I reached out to a well respected "no name" tuner by the name of Justin Carpenter (JTC Tuning) on the HP tuners FB group & to sum it up quickly, he absolutely fucking nailed it. Driveability is pretty much stock if not better & she obviously moves out in a hurry.

Haven't had any real exciting encounters but one early morning on the way to work I got to a light next to a CBR 600RR. Sounded heathly, thicc rear tire but I didn't think much of it, plus buddy didn't even turn is head. Light turns green, take off, shift to 2nd, give it some gas & I hear the bike wind up so I knew it was game on. He hits it & my reaction time must have been near perfect since I hit it pretty much simultaneously with him. Hands down the biggest shit kicking the V has ever laid down, literally lost sight of him

Before I started getting her retuned, I bit the bullet & picked up a DDP intake/Nick Williams 103mm TB. Huge upgraded over the New era 4"/90mm TB.

An engine bay detail is most definitely on the list but I just keep telling myself that it's a true drivers car..

The DDP intake comes with a side swipe that mounts to the rad support & redirects air straight to the filter, so simple yet effective.

Now that I'm closing in on almost 2 years and I think around 20kish (maybe 30k) miles since the teardown, I'm more than sure the OEM mounts I installed are toast yet again (not surprised). As in true V fashion, it was back to my wallet & a set of legit mounts were a necessity. With so few options for the V, I decided to go with mounts designed by a fellow ctsvowners.com member. Mounts are from ALM & to put it simply, absolutely bad ass. They just arrived last week so install should hopefully be sometime this week.

I really need to get out & get some fresh pics of the V but here's a couple I found from the end of last summer..

I love your approach to this car.
Kick ass.
Sometimes I think about what's next after the V & I really can't think of life without it. I'm not giving up a 6MT any time soon so that drops the options to pretty much nothing.

I'll be honest, those RS3's sure have my attention but again, I'm a sucker for "slow" manuals..

From what I've read, there's gonna be a noticeable increase in NVH but after they break in it's pretty manageable. I'll find out soon enough.

Yeah, I guess it being 6MT would have really hurt to have given up. Oh whale.
I love what I have now, but there's something to be said about a supercharged 6L.
