85%...
misread one regarding tailgating.
If some jackass is jaywalking why should I have to hold up traffic for them?
steady yellow...you should PREPARE to stop...not stop.

They are wrong for impeding traffic in the passing lane, but you are wrong for passing on the right.

Now, if it was a 3-lane highway and you were in the middle, that would be a different story, but I have never read a DMV book which states it's OK to pass on the right on a 2-lane (in the same direction) highway.

There are exceptions, such as if someone is making a left turn, etc... however, the question was not about those exceptions, it was about passing on a highway.

90%......and NJFTL!!! Many of the drivers here shouldn't even have a license to be a passenger on a bus, let alone behind the wheel of a car.

I stopped for a jaywalker and got rear-ended. He was in the crosswalk, but was crossing when we had the light to turn. Only scratched the bumper, but still very, very annoying.

You are correct, you should prepare to stop, not stop. That's what I put, as well, and it is the right answer.

You are not supposed to pass on the right on a four-lane highway (two each way). There's a reason you've never seen it in a DMV book. But it's something that often has to be done since people don't seem to understand "slower traffic keep right".

C. Both answers are correct

I answered B. Correct answer is C, which I think is BS. If the question stated it was 3 lanes or more, then I'd agree, but the question stated 2 lanes or more. That means that you can pass cars who are in the passing lane from the slow lane. That is not correct. So in my mind I got a 100% ....
Same here. Missed that question too. I think it is wrong or poorly worded. I was looking for a "none of the above". But passing on the right, on a typical 2-lane (each direction) interstate/highway is a no-no.

<INPUT disabled type=radio value=A name=q8A> A. When traveling on a multi-lane highway carrying two or more lanes of traffic in the same direction
<INPUT disabled type=radio CHECKED value=B name=q8B> B. The other vehicle is making or about to make a left turn, when a lane is provided to pass on the right

Me too...got it wrong...I, for some reason, although we all do it, thought we're not supposed to pass on the right no matter what.

and #18...I put be prepared to stop, instead of stop if safe to do so. You think I'm from South Florida?!?! Ha ha...if you're from down here, you know what I mean.

Still 90%...not bad for not having seen stuff like this since I was 17. Ha ha.

Right... that's my point... that question/answer combination is BS.

18. When you approach a traffic signal displaying a steady yellow light, you must:

A. Go through the intersection before it turns red
B. Stop if it is safe to do so
C. Be prepared to stop
D. Slow down and proceed with caution

I picked C since it technically could be a normal traffic light with an extended yellow signal. It's about to turn red hence you need to be prepared to stop.

I don't think the "slow traffic keep right" and "left lane for passing only" rules are universal. Either way, neither of these makes passing on the right illegal, they make dawdling in the left lane illegal.

Plus, no passing on the right is IMPOSSIBLE to enforce. Example: a car passes you on the left, then slams on the brakes just as it gets ahead of you. Guess what? You pass the car on the right. In heavy rush hour traffic, various lanes slow down and speed up. Every time the left lane comes to stop or slows to a crawl because of traffic, everyone in the next lane is passing on the right.

Effin' I'll stop for them if they are in a marked crosswalk but otherwise, their ass can wait.

They are universal... most highways have signs which say "Slower Traffic Stay Right". The fact that some people do not think it is the law is why we have terrible drivers in the US who become left lane bandits...

As I said above, there are exceptions. Also, read the DMV book. The only time you can pass on the right is for certain exceptions such as the one you listed. I have looked at the NY, NC and CA DMV rules and at speed, you cannot pass on the right unless it is for one of the exceptions listed. I'm sure if you looked at other states you wold find the same terminology...

Plus, tickets have been issued for this violation under a variety of circumstances. Whether you're found guilty or not is another issue... but you can get tickets for it.

100% on the first try. But it doesn't matter if you know the correct law/rule, it only matters if you actually follow/obey them when you drive.

Wouldn't you have to know the law to follow and obey them?

O.K poorly worded on my part! I should have said: Most people know the proper rules/laws but many don't follow them anyway. I'll admit, I speed even though I know the speed limit. Knock wood but I've never had a moving violation in 23 years of driving either. I just try to make sure there are others around me going faster than me while speeding!
